I think several things factor into it. Overall, people have become less moraled over time and they pass this down to their children. We also live in more of a "dog eat dog" society and now more than ever we strive to make as much money as we can. So, both parents usually work, leaving the kids to fend for themselves more. Many rely on their friends for emotional support but many get in with the wrong crowd and peer pressure is extreme. The media doesn't help matters, either. More and more, subtle and not so subtle messages are forced into our living rooms. Long ago, witchcraft and necromancy were considered evil........ now the media is working hard convincing people that these things are normal and just a lifestyle choice.
Weirdo's like Marilyn Manson are shone on MTV and positively
talked about so kids think, "Wow, he must be cool." Morals are no long depicted on television, we're told now that pretty much anything we want to do is just fine as long as it doesn't hurt anybody else. And lastly, God is crowded out of the picture. When that happens, kids will fall victim to acting our their desired will even at their own peril. Biblical tenents of faith and morality and traded for degenerate lifestyle choices. Put all this together and it's not difficult to see what has happened to our youth and why.

The hardest job kids face today is learning good manners without ever seeing any.
-Fred Astaire

What downfall? In my experience, I've seen a greater percentage of youths that are respectful, kind, generous, polite, etc. then their older counterparts. Kids start out innocent afterall--it's the other stuff that they pick up later.

Because of the rise of liberalism, and when I say liberalism, I don't mean the dictionary definition type of liberal but the type of liberal that doesn't have a sense of right and wrong and oppresses and labels socially conscious people as "prudes", "bigots", or "tree huggers". Our society now thinks the following things are ok:

Affluenza
Crappy parenting or lack of parenting
Sex and children out of wedlock
Tolerance of a rise in violent crime
Sugarcoated racism
Obscene media being shown in the middle of the daytime for all children to see
Making an unborn child suffer just because his/her parents decide to have a child out of wedlock
Absence of manners, courtesy and decency
Divorce without even trying to resolve marital problems
Shame of morals (Ashamed of virginity? WTF?)
Tolerance of everything above but oppression and intolerance of religion and spirituality

If I'm only 20 and can figure this out, why can't you?

An epidemic of "entitlement"-in other words, everyone deserves to have anything they need or desire whether they have made the effort to obtain it or not.
Your question is a good example-you want answers but can barely frame the question legibly.
