I know I sound like a freak but I have a bad habit of staring at people. It may be because I have really bad eyesight and I need to stare to get a good glance at people. But I find myself staring at people regardless and it sucks cauz its not like I'm trying to be offensive. It's just something I can't help but do( you know pereffial vision) Also when I'm in class or something like that I get so intense into the lecture that I may stare.

Have you tried talking with an eye doctor to see if glasses may be right for you?
When you catch yourself staring, look away at something else or look at the floor, wall, etc.
I used to wear sunglasses a lot (I worked outside) and had always stared at (technically watching ) people, knowing they couldnt tell but, now Im working indoors and wear regular glasses, I catch myself still staring (watching) people out of habit. I have to remind myself to stop and look around more often.

If you find yourself staring at someone who notice you are looking at them just politely smile and say hello. This is something you have to work on. See you doctor and maybe he can suggest something. In the mean time practice on focusing because this could cause problems if you continue to look at people. For some this is very impolite.

Go to sleep, that what I do when I'm at school. Because I also stare at things, and not just people. I remember one class period where I stared at a dot on my desk for 40 minutes, but somehow I still knew what was going on around me and what we were learning.

A lot of what is thought of as "staring" is culturally-based. What's polite in one society, is highly offensive in another. I was married to an hispanic man, and whenever I went to Mexico, people stared at each other a lot. Here in the US, it's considered rude. I don't pay it any mind. Now if it's a man staring, whole different subject.

Two suggestions get some glasses and turn your head away. It is really a very bad habit and rude too.

When you stare at people, you give them an inflated sense of importance. When you think about this, it will motivate you not to stare and give them the satisfation. This really works, so good luck with it.

first of all hun, get your eyes checked, glasses are sexy...

then since you are aware of it you should be able to stop it, but it will take a conscious effort and a lot of practice. Just keep at practicing when ever you catch yourself doing it....
