everytime someone is offended with the remark? While some things people say demonstrate inferior vocabulary and knowledge, being called to apologize for this word, that word, is getting ridiculous. Why can't people just realize that not everyone is going to like everything or everyone else?
Also, why is tolerance only afforded to the complainers? If one is to be tolerant of another's views, and vice versa, how come only the complainers "deserve" to be tolerated?

One clarification: the only instance I am aware of, outside of marshall law being declared that the First Amendment rights are suspended is when a "clear and present danger" arises.
Being a future English teacher, I am quite curious about the politically-corect phenomenon, and complaints against people exercising their rights is ironic and very maddening, especially when people are called upon- often demanded- to recant for the most trivial of offenses.

LOL!! I thought I was the only one that felt this way. I'm so sick of hearing people apologize for everything. EX. Kramer call an audience member the n -word. Then turned around an apologize. Why? I was more offened with the apology then him saying the n-word. My thing is stop apologizing for something that you meant to say. It really get on my nerves.
Now, it seems that people want Donald Trump to apologize to Rosie O'Donnell. For what? He said how he felt and didn't take it back and I respect him for it.

No, the complainers have been silent as long as they can stand it! They are trying to be heard by being too loud and too often.
It is simply your turn to figure out why people end up so vulnerable to criticism? Why would a woman demand to be heard? Why would the ACLU defend a felon when the ACLU gets nothing for the effort? Why would the hopeless try to avoid death?
Why do the some of the rich insist not give there fortune away?
And, finally, why is it really so difficult to realize that all humans need help even if they are completely able?
Why does the Animal look so determined when he or she is in the jaws of a scavenger?

Freedom of speech guarentees us the right to speak freely without fear of arrest by the government. Howereve that does not mean that we are not bound by basic rules of society. I can yell at the top of my lungs in a park, but not in a movie theater. There are certain times when it is simply not apropriate to do or say certain things. It is not acceptable to hurt others intentionally, or to be negligent of the fact that your words or actions may do just that. People who feel a sense of entitilement like to hide behind the Constitution while they do or say anything they feel like. I dont believe that our constitution and its amendments were put into place for that purpose, and as an enlightened society, we must ensure that all of our citizens have basic American rights, like being able to work in a non hostile environment, etc. You may feel that nobody should tell you what to say.....but the bottom line is....nobody should have to.

Rule ONE: Never under ANY circumstances apologize or admit you were wrong.
Rule TWO: Respond to all remarks that call into question ANYTHING you say with outrage and indignation.
Rule THREE: KNOW that you are better than everyone.
These 3 simple rules are all that anybody needs to be a success.

Everybody has to chill ouit. When I was young, (ya, i'm old) nobody cared what anyone else said. Now you have to be careful of anything you say. I agree. freedom of speach is going, but blame yourselves. If anyone says anything about anything, the complainers will be sure to complain!

Point well taken. Sometimes it seems like no matter what you say, someone is going to be offended. What's that saying..."you can please some of the people, some of the time, but you can't please all of the people, all of the time. In the words of Ricky Nelson from the song, "Garden Party," "See you can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself." Rock on brother!

You don't have to apologize. Even if someone demands it use your freedom to tell them to go get bent if that is your choice.
