I know we have all seen it. A car parked in handicapped slot and a bunch of young people get out and none show any necessity for the parking priviledge.
I drive my 96 yr old mom to stores and can't find a parking place in handicapped. She uses a walker and can't go far before she gets in a wheelchair. Most times if we can find a parking spot, it's by pure luck! It just burns me up to see a bunch of kids get out of a car and bounce into the store. Wish I had a good stress reliever....lol. Know any?
And yes, I've had ugly comments made to me when I take a load of packages to the car before my mom gets out of the store and starts to the car. All assuming I parked there as a single occupant. I know mistakes can be made, but I'm talking about the obvious ones where you see them get out of the car after parking.

Okay, am seeing a common thread of reporting the people. I'm just not sure the police take this as serious enough to check into the validity of use of a handicapped parking place.
The requirements for getting a sticker are just too lenient in my opinion. It says 'can't walk 200 feet without assistance' . Seems they wouldn't come bouncing out of the car, all chatty and kidding with each other.
I'm going to let the votes decide. I'm still unsure how to get people to be honest in their use of handicapped parking.
Thanks for all your input. At least I know it's not just me getting upset over this.

Report them...it is illegal to park in a handicap parking space with out the legal handicap placard hanging on rear view mirror or without being truly handicapped.
I have a terminal illness that cannot be seen...I cannot walk 200 feet without the assistance of someone or something or without having to stop. Although my handicap is not visual I have it just the same.
I. too, get stares when I exit my vehicle without a cane or walker or some visible sign that says "handicapped".... I am 58 years old and don't like having to use those spaces with my placard ; however I need them to go in to buy groceries. Once inside the store I then use a motorized cart to shop.
If it ever came to me or you getting a spot -- of course, I would gladly give the spot for your mother -- God Bless her!

If the handicapped person is not with you, then you should not use the parking permit. That's just common sense... Try this: When you see the person hop out of their car and stroll in from the disabled place, you could always run up and grab their elbow and help them in the door, saying "Please! let me get that for you! How are you today? I'm so worried about you, were you in an accident of some kind? Can I get you anything?" DO NOT be sarcastic or it won't work, you must seem 100% genuine. If they protest you can say "Oh, no, you don't need to hide it from me, I saw you parked in that handicapped spot, I can't believe I didn't realize your condition before. Please, let me know if there's anything at all I can help you with." Saying this in front of a manager is preferable, but in front of any other colleague works too. The idea is to embarrass the hell out of them and shame them into stopping parking there. Get some like-minded colleagues to also make a big big deal out of this terrible "condition" and be extra careful to open doors and help them carry even the lightest things. If you are good actors, this works beautifully.

Report it! Don't confront some lazy *** idiot. They may have anger management issues. They are jut despicable human beings and too lazy to walk. Report them to the manager, they have a responsibility to their handicapped customers to ensure that they have accessible parking. If that doesn't work call the cops and asked if they can be towed for parking illegally.

Both my son and my brother were handicapped, and neither of them had handicaps that were visible to strangers. My son was very ill, had weakness of limbs My brother had severe heart/lung problems.
Many times, people came up, yelling, when they parked in handicapped spots. My brother had smartmouth remarks that stopped complainers in their tracks. My son had a sticker.
I don't yell at people who park in these spots, because maybe one of the group has one of these hidden disabilities.

I hate to say this because you most likely have a valid point, but numerous disabilites are not obvious and it would be more unfair for you to chastize a person who legitimtely falls in that category. If they don't have a permit just report it to the store manager and let them handle it.

Since you don't know their situation, stay out of it. There may be things you don't know about.
