i have been reading all kinds of theology for years and talking w/ people from every religion - athiests, too. it has kind of been my obsession. but i'm getting more and more confused. there are so many good reasons to believe there is a God but i'm not sure i understand Him or His will. there is nothing yet that has convinced me God doesn't exist but there isn't proof of his existance. and i don't have much in the way of personal experience to stand on. so is it prophecies? moral law? irreducible complexity? etc........ i'm kind of at Pascal's wager right now. anyone been here? what do i do besides continuing to read and pray? this is frustrating

Of course not. When I came to know Christ as my savior, I came into a relationship with God that guaranteed me eternal life. As John 3:36 said, He that believeth on the Son has everlasting life. A later lack of belief cannot take away eternal life previously granted by God, because if he could, you would never have had eternal life. Since God isn't a teenage girl, his mind won't change seaonally as the hemline drops. In short, once saved, always saved. This makes sense, because salvation does not come from works but through God's mercy. Titus 3:5. Grace saves us not our own acts. Ephesians 2:8,9. So in a sense, Christians who teach otherwise are terrorists who seek to scare you into adhering to their own code of behavior.

I was saved when I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart at 15 and was babtised. My subsequent loss of belief such that I am now an atheist (or more accurately, an agnostic) is irrelevant to my state of salvation.

"Many will come to me on that day and say Lord Lord have we not done all of these things in Thy name, and I will say unto them, depart from me for I never knew you."
BEFORE YOU QUOTE "FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD" I challenge you to look up the word "dead" in that sentence in the Greek, it means barren. It is still faith, it just has not produced.
Also find an area in Romans 8:38-39 where it is even possible to lose salvation.
And finally what does that verse mean
"If all of a man's work be hay wood and stubble, he shall suffer loss, YET SHALL ENTER IN AS ONE ESCAPING THROUGH THE FLAMES." What does it mean "escaping through the flames." If that is not salvation by grace alone, I will eat my hat.

When ur child became a teen or even younger than that sometimes, would u let ur child choose their religion? or will u keep pushing ur beliefs on them so they wouldnt know any other religions?

I was raised Christian from birth to age 10. My parents let me choose my religion then, and i have found my truth in Wicca. Do u believe my parents did the right thing? Or would u have pushed the religion on me?

If an Atheist walked up to you, would u try to "save" them? How bout me? A satanist?

Cant u see? Are u actually that blind to not see that ur pushing ur beliefs on us "non-believers" because we have found our own truth and not urs? Why cant u leave us alone? Cant u see we are happy with our decision? Why turn us to something we know is not true?

Answer with all honesty!!!

What if the Christians are right about there being an eternal heaven and hell, and that we are all sinners and offered the gift of salvation through accepting Jesus Christ? Where will you go after you die?

has anyone heard that story (no not the one told on "stay alive", the real one). isn't it messed up?

for people who don't know it,
this countess in the 1500-1600s became obsessed with eternal youth and believed that bathing in young girls' blood would keep her looking young. so she would secretly torture he servants and peasant girls.

she tortured them in these ways:
~took them outside in the winter time {while they were naked} and poured freezing cold water on them and watched them freeze to death
~burn their pubic hair while still on them
~stick needles through their face and beneath their fingernails

and once she was done torturing them she would hang them upside down, their ankles locked in chains. hanging right above her bathtub, she would slash their throats and let the blood fill the bathtub while she bathed in it. she killed about 650 girls.

isn't that sick?

does anyone know any other stories that could match a tragedy like this?

This mesage is mainly for Punter, if you are a Muslim like you claim, then you should try to defend you religion from what I am trying to convince others of. You downsizing christianity isn't convincing me that I am wrong. You have failed to prove what I have put down about Islam is wrong. So untill you can prove what I put down is incorrect, quit wasting my time.
And if you say I am wasting your time, then here this "I AM NOT THE ONE MAKING YOU ANSWER THESE QUSTIONS, SO IF YOU ARE TIRED OF ME PUTTING THEM ON HERE, THEN PROVE THEM WRONG!

This person used to be my friend as well as my roommate, but it's gotten more and more difficult to talk with her (we'll call her AC). We lived together for 2 years, with two other girls. This past year, one of the other girls left for another community, and the other girl we lived with lives with me in a new apartment. AC is somewhat self-centered without realizing it, and we had a few problems with her while living together (i.e. she'd eat our food (to extremes) and would be publically affection with her bf, and complain about her graduate schoolwork being much harder than our undergraduate curriculum). She likes to IM or call, but it almost always ends up being a - gee look how wonderful (or awful) my life is, sympathize with me and tell me how great (or how unfair) my life is. What's a polite way to get her to realize that the world doesn't always revolve around her, without blowing up at her for past issues we had in the room together?

And if he is that's ok, but I like him, so I'd prefer it if he were heterosexual. He hangs out with a bunch of guys which is completely normal and a bunch of lesbians, which is cool too. He always tell me that he's never asked anyone out. If he dates a woman, she always makes the first move. He also told me that he wasnt too picky about who he was in a relationship with as long as he's in a relationship. He tells me this on a daily basis, so of course I think that he tells me this cause he's picked up on the fact that I like him and he may want me to ask him out, but then again I think that I am sometimes delusional. What should I do? Is he possibly interested or is he gay and trying to come out to me?

Jesus said the Father would send us the Holy Spirit who would abide with us forever. If you are saved it is written you are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Hebrews chap. 6 does not say you lose your salvation. It talks about repentance. Forever sounds like forever to me. I have seen this for many years and had no idea what a calvinist was until recently.

I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.
When I'm amongst Christians I can be ridiculed for being sullen, aloof, or unfaithful. I'm not necessarily the 'rock' that I used to be.
Things have happened and I've lost faith in things (probably since I had faith and 95% of everything that meant something to me is gone). When I try to point out the harmful actions of some of my Christian friends I face ridicule. The problems aren't small either, yet of course I get that response 'don't judge or be judged' etc. I mean if you are destroying yourself with hard drugs, or robbing old women you aren't the 'model Christian'. Am I not allowed to have a problem with that? Yet, I tend to face crticism for everything I do. So, there is tension there. When I'm with non-christians it isn't any better, they just live in the moment, only care about money, and are too shallow to find any real meaning in life. I'm stuck again. I can't get myself out of this... it keeps happening.
