Sickens me! So many new young readers because of them.

Anywho, religous folk dont like the books because it contains witchcraft, right?

Well what about ....
- man speaking to another through a burning bush
- man rising from the dead
- man turning water into wine
- man splitting a mass of water and walking through it
- etc, etc ..

Heck, if thats not the same thing as witchcraft, I dont know what is.
Why is it Ok to read about it in one book, and not ok to have fun with the fantasy of it through another?

Comments?

OK, this is a bit of a strange question. I really just want opinions from different interesting perspectives. What exactly causes "atmosphere"? I mean when it is Saturday night and you are 18 years old, and you are ready to have fun, there is that feeling in the air....what causes that? Or how would you explain it? Or as an adult, when something is bothering my wife I can tell, without verbal indications. There is just something in the air. Please give any explanation you may have!

I am a strong believing catholic, but I must go out of state for a month. There I will be living with my grandmother who is protestant. At her church communion is given. I was wondering if it is right for me to take the bread and wine if I do believe it is the real blood and body. I do not wnat to starve my soul by not taking eucharist which is basically the reason why the sabbath is holy and I must go. Which would be the greater sin, me not taking the bread and body or me taking it at a protestant church. Remember that this is the only church for miles and that I can't go to any catholic churches because they are to far away and I can not drive. Please give me honest advice on what to do and if you can give me a source or something from the catholic church that says if it's right or wrong. Thank you!

Could they stand for the pledge to the Holy Bible.

I pledge allegiance to the Christian Flag and to the Savior for whose Kingdom it stands. One Savior, crucified, risen, and coming again with life and liberty to all who believe.

I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's Holy Word, I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path and will hide its words in my heart that I might not sin against God.

I can understand how certain faiths want to "share" their message, but all I see on here is attacks from christians to atheists and non christians. Is this really how it's done?

I mean, I am so not gay that I rarely even notice when people around me happen to be. Homosexual behaviors simply do not register in my brain.

I've had someone say to me, "look at that gay guy."
I responded, "why would I want to do that?"

Could it be that the people that complain about seeing homosexuals in public are actually trying to dissuade themselves that they are drawn to it?

i'm thinking of giving a church a try. i am very drawn to the episcopal and ELCA churches. i haven't been to church in a long time, though and frankly i am a little nervous about going. i am kind of looking for a place to meet some nice like-minded people and some solace during my hectic week. i am kind of nervous about going by myself, as most of my friends are not into going to church or go to different churches i don't want to attend. any advice or suggestions?

"Atheism, The logical choice"

who are they trying to convince and why do they/you feel the need to use it so often? Should Christians end their stuff with something like....JESUS CHRIST...HE IS THE REAL THING!!!

Well, my mother and I are going to ireland in july to visit some of our family that I've never met before, and if we like it there, she is going to consider moving there. I'm in the U.S right now, I've lived here all my life, and I dont like it . I have a Black, Irish and Indian background, and everytime I talk to a mixed race girl here , some how race gets in the conversation, and since I'm not only black, they assume that I will wanna talk about how much better I am b/c of my race talk about how lucky we are that we are not all black and how light and pretty we are and how our hair is ya know and stuff like that. And I am not like that at all. Anyway, that was weird especially since I'm not light skin.
Anyway, is it like that in Ireland? Hope not! Serious answers plz!

Science is moving in that direction. Every year more and more animals are found capable of _making_ tools, suffering of depression, having "regional dialects," etc.

Could we eat beings that are intelligent and have feelings?

Would it make any difference to you?

i totally respect your POV, but i really want to know-

isn't it really the specific religious definition(s) of god that offends your intelligence?

what do you think about this definition?

"God" is the Process of Life being Life...the Energy that cannot be destroyed but can only change form, the Intelligence behind the Process of Evolution itself, the State of Being

is in "charge" of the lake of fire? Do ppl not understand that it was created for Satan and his angels to be tormented in? People will be trespassers there. Also, why would ppl say they are Christians if they also claim that The lake of fire is not a FOREVER thing, or say they do not take it to be a real place?? One either believes GOD or they do not. Why ride the fence or suffer the eternal weggie!

It is truly a shame that Christians are repeatedly told that they should not question but to just have FAITH that it is all factual. I wonder how many other books do they read with such closed minds? To be required to read a book and not be able to 'think' and 'reason' while reading is one heck of a handicap. I, for one, can't do it.

An Example... A white woman in a question 'Do mexicans look like filipinos' replied with "They all look like humans to me"

The question wasnt even questioning if they are human or not.The woman is obviously so scared of issues of race and appearance that she over compensates with that. Of course we all look like humans, but we look different too. Unless you're twins.

Why reply with that message? Are you so afraid of being called a racist that you hide behind that answer whenever it comes up?

So are you whites just hiding from the issue or do you really see a black and white next to each other and think "Oh wow they look like twins"?

I’m referring to the dumb and dumber videos on youtube, otherwise known as Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort; they claim that it is no coincidence that the banana is a perfect fit in the human hand, it has a pop top and is angled to make it easier for us to eat it. I’m laughing as I type this because it’s so freakin stupid! Why don’t they realize that the modern banana is the product of thousands of years of human agriculture? Just like sheep and cattle don’t look anything like their wild ancestors.

I have faith that Jesus was not God. Just like I have faith that David Koresh was not God (or we're all in trouble).

I also have faith that Christians will feel sorry for me because I have faith in something besides some dude that walked the earth 2000 years ago.

P.S. I don't need or want your pitty.

I know I've heard it and now I've been asked to supply scripture proof of where it says that Jesus is coming in the Eastern sky.

oh, and by the way, go to myspace.com/stevelotto and you'll hear a song by Disciple called Going Home. In its chorus, you'll hear him say, "I've seen Jesus comin' in the Eastern sky, and I'm going home." such a tight song, you gotta listen to it with headphones or some tight system to get the bass guitar solos in there.

Thanks guys.

We are trying to abide by our belief and faith. There are obnoxious exceptions to the rule, but most of us just want to get along with the rest of you. Why can't you accept that and give us the benefit of the doubt. If a Christian bashes you then you have a reason to be upset. If a Christian asks a valid question - be nice or don't bother answering the flippin question.
