This doesn't sound like a question...

This is the first time I saw your question so I guess I am on neutral grounds.
First it is difficult to understand your question and the way you worded it, with virtually no punctuation marks.
Basically you say "I don't know what to do"! I understand you to say/indicate many people have answered/given you advice. That you are not one who thinks gay people are different. That you do "NOT" have a problem with it at all.
1. If you had so many replies and advice, why are you asking the same question instead of taking the advice already given? Maybe you don't want to listen or accept the advice you asked for.
2. If you do NOT think that gay people are different then what is the problem or issue you have.
3. If you do NOT have a problem with it, gay life style so why are you concerned.
Your babysitter I presume is a good one and did a good safe job. I also assume he has not made any unwanted sexual moves advances to you. Therefor I don't see the need/reason to tell his private business to ANYONE. I don't think you would like for anyone to tell your personal/private business to anyone. So go by the golden rule.

Unless this is someone who's disabled how old is this person? How do you know for sure that he's gay?? If he's young enough to need a babysitter than he may not be sure how he feels yet. He may change his mind and are you sure that he's gay or are you interpreting some of his actions correctly? Most boys like to play with boys more than girls for goodness sake most men would prefer to hang out with their male friends than a group of women. If you tell this child's parents that he's gay do you know that they will accept him as such?? Will you be helping the situation or creating on that will cause misery for the rest of the time that he has to live at home? Why do you feel that it's your place to tell his parents anyway?? Is it because you have an issue with it? If so than maybe you should just tell them that you can't sit anymore. And let them find someone else.

never read your original question, but somehow it is good advice not to mingle into other people's life. If he is a good baby sitter and you do not fear him close to your children then let things be.
I am not going to apologize for others jumping on you, but be aware that gays get a great deal of hostility on this site and some of us are jumpy. Thank you for being an open mind person and and hope everything turns out for the best with everyone involved.
Smile and be happy.

Your job is to babysit, not to tell parents things that a child may not be ready to tell his parents. Maybe the parents know and choose to keep quiet about knowing. Maybe the child knows his parents will have a hard time when they find out. Maybe you are mistaken - young boys often go thru a stage that passes.

If you care about this child then let them know you are open to discussing what it means to be gay. Let the child decide it they want to talk to you. They could need you to be an accepting person in their life.

Let the child know anything they say is confidential and then keep it confidential.

I understand, but realize that most people are really sensitive about this topic. Look at the responses as seeing what could happen if your babysitter isn't treated delicately. He could grow up as most gay people have, feeling that the straight community is constantly attacking him. Maybe you can be the person that keeps him from that perception. Good luck.

If you told the young man's parents he's gay before he's ready, you are risking quite a bit. It is not your responsibility to push life on him before he is ready to bear it. Coming out to friends and family can be a difficult thing, especially if you are unsure of how they will react. You may know his parents, but are you certain that they would welcome knowing they have a gay son? Are you ready to take responsibility for him if they do not respond well? He will come out when he feels the time is right. Until then, leave things be.

If you don't have a problem with it then why would you feel the need to tell someone about his sexuality? Would you tell them he has brown hair or that he likes ice cream? If it bothers you then get a new babysitter.

Why would you do that? What is wrong with you? Oh my word you really decided that was a rational thought. You entertained it so much you posted it on an international bulletin. There was a question earlier I answered about the destruction of America......

I am not jumping on you. Here is my advice: He is not your child. It is none of your business. Stay out of it. You will cause more harm than good. HE will tell them when HE is ready.

I'm sorry if you felt attacked by me. I was'nt trying to be insulting at all. I was just sharing my thoughts with you. In your question though you were asking if you should tell. You need to do what you feel comfortable doing.
