Science is moving in that direction. Every year more and more animals are found capable of _making_ tools, suffering of depression, having "regional dialects," etc.

Could we eat beings that are intelligent and have feelings?

Would it make any difference to you?

I think it's fairly obvious animals think and have feelings. They would not survive a minute if they couldn't think at all. Of course, some animals think and feel more than others - due to more developed and advanced brains. But it's OK to eat fish because they don't have any feelings.

Of course they think! Ever shared a space with a cat or a Border collie???????????????
Hell on Earth , they plot revenge before I even cause insult!
Yeah I would eat them! actually. today my collie ATE my favorite hair clip, because I napped on the Sofa instead of playing Frisbee.
Just wait until the price of meat goes up, 101 ways to WOK the dog. As for my useless cats, who I put in the grain room with a mouse and they ignored it and went to sleep!
Yeah, I like Restaurant Chicken wings as much as the next person.
My pet Bantam Hen, Well If I cut myself in the greenhouse, she follows me around drinking the blood I have spilled from my body off the floor. Not to mention stealing my P.B.&J's off my desk in my office. EAT or BE EATEN I SAY!!!!!!!!!!
Even if she is cute and snuggles her head into my shoulder and lifts a wing to be scratched.

I Sleep with one eye open in my house!
O.K. I am being silly, NO I don't eat family members, or friends of family members.
But let Mr. Codfish beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!

absolutely. How else am i going to survive? it's the chain of life. what if it were proven that plants have intelligence and feelings as well, are you going to starve? I am sure lions do have some type of communication with their prey but that doesn't stop them. It's life and yes i will still eat them. What's your answer about the plants?

i wish we would stop doing that. I love meat and poultry. It is also healthy for our bodies. It would make me feel a little more uncomfortable knowing that the thing i am eating suffered from depression or got a D on his final exam before i ate him.
