As for your example, my wife is Mexican and mestizo in appearance and here in Canada where the Latin population is relatively small she and other Mexican friends get mistaken for Phillipinos or even East Indian sometimes. Once I took a friend of mine from Nepal on a trip to California with me. He looked part east Indian and part Chinese as many Napalese do yet in the states many hispnics came up him speaking Spanish and when he couldn't reply in Spanish they got mad or frustrated probably thinking here is a Mexican who got to gringoized and won't talk his Spanish now.
I think people do overcompensate about racial issues at times because everything has to be so political correct. "Sometimes" people of a particular race or culture or same sex partnership are so sensitive to comments or criticism that they jump all over you when they hear some key word that triggers their frustration or anger and get fixated on the word or phrase like a cat about to pounce on a bird and are totally oblivious to the rest of the conversation or main point. For that reason there are those that take time to choose their words very carefully so they will not be branded as such.
Personally I have no problem getting along with different races or cultures. From day one, I always was taught to follow the age old saying of when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
If a person of another race is a jerk, I'll let him or her know. No race in the world has the monopoly of having some detestable people. I do not mind funny jokes about racial and ethnic stereotypes at times and find they are much the same all over the world; just the cultural groups change.
Well the biggest laugh I had was when I went with my wife to get our marriage licence and the commissioner asked, areyou brother and sister? Do you think we look that much alike I replied.
In summation I would say just take each person you meet in life at face value until they show you a reason to think otherwise, treat people of any race or cuture the way you would like to be treated yourelf and racial sensitivities are quickly forgotten.

I am extra involved approximately Obama's hyperlink to recognized terrorists.. And the truth that the US media has slightly touched on any of the ones facets of curiosity and the info. The truth is Obama's political profession used to be birthed in the living room room of Bill Ayers, a founding father of the unconventional Weather Underground, which used to be worried in a few bombings within the early Seventies, adding the Pentagon and the Capitol, and the 2 have met a few instances in view that Obama's 1995 crusade for a state Senate seat. I'll be very involved if that guy wins... Glad I am no longer an American!

I'm Italian, but I don't get offended when a Greek person asks if I'm Greek. That's because Italians and Greeks look quite alike. However, minorities can be more sensitive about race, just because they have likely been discriminated against a bit more than whites. But pretty soon white people will be in the minority too, so there will be nothing left to whine about, right?!

no, I see two races together and think they both look human.
that there are differences is obvious, what so many people seem to miss is that there are a great many more similarities.
I do not fear any race "issue" because for me, there IS no issue.
