if you think your religion is the true one, think about how rediculous the stories are that back it. i was told in 8th grade one of the creation stories of Indians. it sounded so bazaar everyone, including myself, chuckled at this hard to believe myth. but after he told us this story, my teacher says "now that sounds very silly to us, but think about ours: god made the earth in 7 days, god created adam, eve was created from adam's rib, they lived in a garden, adam talked to a snake who tricked him into eating a magical apple and it was then that sin was created". i believe religion was created by man over many years when people started questioning what is the point of my existence. religion gives you hope and it controls mass numbers of people with fear. i'm not religious but i still live an honest life and i have morals and ethics. i went to catholic school for 7 years, but i use logic and reasoning to answer questions. i'm probably going to get"you're doomed for hell",but ur brainwashed

1-pope alexander, believing that the world was flat, "split" up the world into east and west and gave spain and portugal the blessing to conquer either side.
2-the church accused many scientists of heresy: among them newton, copernicus, and galileo, saying that their researches were wrong (heliocentric universe, gravity, round earth) only to find out that they were right all along
3-the church took adam and eve literally, thus licensing all the scum that was thrown and done to women--witch hunts and that blood-soaked book, the witches' hammer. they even put forward that stupid concept of original sin only to say, years later, that adam and eve are but symbols. ie christ died for the symboolic adam.

what is it that is so interesting about mega disasters that americans seem glued to the television when they are on? they are played again and again, and watched religiously again and again. does anyone other than me find this mega disaster thing a little nauseating?

we have shows on:

1. a sudden star burst sending gamma rays to hit the earth, pulling everything to exponential pieces...

2. the theoretical black hole in the center of the milky way getting closer and closer to the earth, meaning that the earth will be sucked in...

3. the sun exploding all of a sudden, with no previous warning of it...

4. the earth being thrown off its orbit, thereby turning the earth onto an exactly opposite axis, meaning that the poles would all of a sudden be near the equator, but that all the land masses would be at the poles...

5. parts of the earth collapsing into the oceans via mega earthquakes that will come upon us so quickly that 3/4 of the (CONTINUED BELOW):

My 10 year old son has become obsessed with the show and it's characters like a housewife and her soaps. Is this show age appropriate for him and are these shows evil? He started drawing the symbol on is wrist and on all his drawings. If this show is not appropriate for a christian home how can I explain to my son that he shouldnt watch it anymore without making him mad or wanting to rebel in the future?

Some believe that the end of the Law gives them license to do as they please as long as they profess a belief in Christ. Some go so far as to claim that Christians, who are no longer bound by the Law of Moses, are even under an obligation to behave contrary to the commands of the Law. (See Rom. 6:15.) Some believe that for Christians all laws and rules had been abolished. By distorting the scriptures, they are able to reject the demands of the Law without accepting the demands of the gospel. In the New Testament the epistles of James, Jude, 2 Peter, and 1 Corinthians deal in part with this error. James shows that belief without proper behavior and commitment is not enough for salvation. (See James 2.) The gospel does not destroy the Law, but is itself a new law which incorporates and fulfills the the old—a higher law certainly, but a law nonetheless, and one which must be obeyed.

It seems that the baby was concieved on or around the spring equinox and my due date is for Dec 21st the winter solstice.(Weird right?) We are wondering if there is any meaning to of this or if there are any web sites that can tell us the meaning of a birth date on that day?

Just a quick thing for someone who might need a prayer or some positive thoughts sent their way.
What do you need...post away your prayers, needs, desires (no xxx rated stuff!!)

This way the "report fanatics" have only one question to delete.

I am a believer yet I don't know anything about the Bible. I want to learn, I want to be a better Christian.

I get bored with the Bible, and it's just too much for me to take in, and sometimes just too complicated. Is there an easier way for a young adult, like myself, to learn? Other books...and even better, DVDs?

I mean, from a very spiritual point of view it can be grasped, but not easily explained. But form an atheist or agnostic point of view, how can you explain it? Please, if you are not familiar with the concept refrain from answering.

I've seen a lot of posts here that regard agnostics as "fence sitters". People that either won't commit to a position on religion or just don't want to think about it (which is really not it at all).

Do you know what it is? Do you understand why someone would come to the conclusion that our primitive brains (c'mon, we can't even stop blowing each other up) can't even understand the real concept of divinity, let alone it's will (if there even is such a thing).

If God is all loving and all knowing then explain why he would create Adam and Eve just to have them doom the rest of us. And why , if he's omnipotent, would he let the world suffer like he does? Huge contradiction there. I have an answer but I would like to see other opinions first.

I wrote that my cancer had returned and I was scared and ask for prayer and someone turned it is as abuse. I went to church and came back to see it had 27 people that responded but had been removed so I didn't see it. Why is it you can use the F word and N word and say you want to kill people of other races, etc., but it's NOT ok to ask for Prayer? Has the world just gone crazy? Satan has a lot of his imps working overtime.
