My 10 year old son has become obsessed with the show and it's characters like a housewife and her soaps. Is this show age appropriate for him and are these shows evil? He started drawing the symbol on is wrist and on all his drawings. If this show is not appropriate for a christian home how can I explain to my son that he shouldnt watch it anymore without making him mad or wanting to rebel in the future?

You can't control what a kid believes any more than you can tell them to run out in the middle of a street-he's at an age where he's smart enough to figure stuff out on his own. The Naruto symbols are an altered form of both tribal Japanese kanji and Polynesian writing, and are completely harmless.

while some of the content on Naruto might be a bit violent for a ten year old.

There is nothing in their that would offend any religion. My recommendation would be to watch some of it with him so you get an understanding of what he is seeing and maybe talk with him about it.

Trying to cut him off might as you said cause unnecessary consequences in the future.

As for the symbols he is drawing they are harmless. They are likely symbols of the major groups the show. They represent things in nature such as leaves, water, stone, fire, mist, etc. I would not worry he will grow out of it.

Dont worry to much! its just a cartoon after all. Sure there are fights and all, but thats just the average tv content. About he symbol, it just represents a leaf, because naruto is from the leaf village, nothing more, is not 'evil'.
