I mean topic after topic on "GAY" issues answered by straight people who really have no clue. Also those straight people who post question that just ooze ignorance.

Why do so many atheist answer questions in the Religion & Spirituality section?
Who knows?
It may be know-it-allism, boredom, an attempt to start some static, or something else...

Every now and then when you've finished answering a question in Society & Culture you'll see some more in a different division thereof ("you're on a roll, keep answering) and you may feel that you have something to add 2 the discussion.
That's actually how I came across this question, cuz I'm rather straight.

Oh, I hope I didn't offend by doing exactly what the question was apparently challenging.

Some come here thinking they are going to save our soul. Some need to take out their frustration and figure why not us? Others are curious or actually have a legit well thought out question. Not often though it seems. Some are just downright hateful and enjoy spewing their ignorance and narrow minded thought patterns for all to see. Some people have such unsatisfying lives and crave ANY form of attention and figure negative response is as good as any, and yet again there are some like a few of the favorites (which will go unnamed but we all know) that seem to just enjoy trying to get a rise out of people. most are pretty pathetic. It would be easy to say they are all in the closet, but quite honestly I hope they aren't as I wouldn't want to claim them as part of my community. It's a symptom of bigger problems in the persons own warped mind and an example of what happens when a pathetic person has too much time on their hands.

The same reason the Christians are annoyed with athiests...when one goes to the "cultures and groups" section to look at questions asked, there are tons of gay questions there for your section. Seems your section gets the majority of the activity for one thing and they are right there in the general listing. I asked this question in the c&s section, myself....why arent the questions for seperate groups listed seperately and not all lumped together on one page. I believe this is an issue Yahoo has to work out yet...

btw I'm STRAIGHT...I didnt come here looking for answers to bother anyone, but there was your question, emblazoned in the general category and it mirrored a question I'd asked previously. Maybe if enough of us complain, Yahoo might categorize thier questions to specific categories. It's just asking for trouble when everyone can see a certain groups questions unless they specifically go there...

Well, who better to pose questions than those who are ignorant of the issues? Perhaps they truly want to know more and educate themselves.
As far as answers, a lot of straight people have G&L friends, have worked with them, for them, are related to them etc....why would their opinions be discounted? If you disagree with an answer, you can always say so.

I hope you don't feel put down by straight people answering gay questions. i think it could be a good sign that if people are trying to accept and understand that there are Gay and Lesbians and they are good people then the more discussion the better and remember, this is a subject that was absolutely taboo just a decade or so ago. So let everyone try to understand the best way they can!

I consider the root to my sexuality to be genetic. I strongly believe that sexuality is determined in the womb by genes and latest research has shown this to be a very strong possibility because gay men apparently have more of the female sex hormone oestrogen than straight men and lesbians tend to have more testosterone than straight women (ever man and woman on the earth has a certain amount of testosterone and oestrogen in their bodies from birth). As for religious beliefs the jury is out on that one tbh. You have to remember that the bible was written centuries ago and alot has changed since then. The bible is completely open to interpretation and people take what they need from it (as I was told by a nun!). There's even a passage in it that apparently condemns masturbation but instead of using the word semen they refer to it as "seed". Now this is where the controversy begins. How are we to know for sure that that "seed" was another word for semen? There's absolutely no proof whatsoever. So that's what pokes so many holes in that argument. As for being gay a product of catching some "evil spirits" and this is why were are "different" you have to bear in mind the timeline because it wasn't until recently that people who suffer from epilepsy were considered "possessed"! You're probably wondering what the comparison is but back in biblical times if something was "different" they attached the tag "evil spirits" to it to make sense in condemning it. As for psychology the theories you mentioned are outdated. More recent studies have shown that only a VERY small percentage of gay men and lesbians were raped or molested by an adult during childhood and a very high percentage realised or suspected they were gay in their early years. It also stated that it didn’t matter how the child was raised by whether be by Uncles, Aunts, foster parents or through adoption the likelihood of a child “turning” gay was no greater than a child raised in a family with a mother or father. To add to that a child reared by a same sex couple has no greater chance of being gay than a child brought up by an opposite sex couple. And finally, the “emotional” argument has been used way too many times. There has been interview’s conducted where gay men openly admit to enjoy the affection from their male partner because they never received it from their fathers but to assume that a person would become gay purely down to being never shown emotion by an adult role model is purely down to speculation and is not enough to warrant an explanation to determine someone’s sexual orientation. Thankfully I wasn't molested or raped by anyone and I was fortunate to discover my true sexuality by being born this way. Some people from a very early age that they're somewhat "different" while it takes others some time to figure it out. Everybody is different at the end of the day. Now I know there’s alot there to digest but I hope I helped in some way and I wish you the very best of luck :)

Just because you aren't something doesn't mean that you cant contribute to the conversation. If you aren't Black does that mean that you can't have a conversation with some about Black issues?? Do you have to be African to know that the situation in Dufar is wrong and that we as a world wide society should help? If you're not a parent does that mean that you don't know how to treat children?? If you aren't a teacher does that mean that you have nothing to teach someone?? Maybe you should think of it in that light. -

I know I sometimes answer questions in sections I don't have too much experience in, but might still have the answer or some insight into the question. I answer questions in those categories because the first page with the most recent questions lists all recently updated categories.

I answer in this question to put my feelings and opinion on things... I accept LGBTs and I think it's good to let them know that some people in this world aren't ignorant and close-minded. I have many gay friends and I support them 100% and that's what I'm doing in this section.

I quite agree. My guess is they are F.K.I.A.'s and cannot resist answering as many questions in as many categories as possible in Answers to try and boost their status, in their own minds anyway.
