if you think your religion is the true one, think about how rediculous the stories are that back it. i was told in 8th grade one of the creation stories of Indians. it sounded so bazaar everyone, including myself, chuckled at this hard to believe myth. but after he told us this story, my teacher says "now that sounds very silly to us, but think about ours: god made the earth in 7 days, god created adam, eve was created from adam's rib, they lived in a garden, adam talked to a snake who tricked him into eating a magical apple and it was then that sin was created". i believe religion was created by man over many years when people started questioning what is the point of my existence. religion gives you hope and it controls mass numbers of people with fear. i'm not religious but i still live an honest life and i have morals and ethics. i went to catholic school for 7 years, but i use logic and reasoning to answer questions. i'm probably going to get"you're doomed for hell",but ur brainwashed

You must receive the Spirit of Christ through faith.
This is how the Bible describes true religion:
"But God found fault with the people and said:
"The time is coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant
I made with their forefathers
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.
This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
No longer will a man teach his neighbor,
or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,'
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more."
By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear."
Jesus said "You must be born again."
Come to Him, in believing prayer, and he Himself will teach you. He is risen from the dead!

I agree with you. I don't think there is one "right" religion. I do not feel comfortable practicing any in any organized religion at this point in my life. I, too, consider myself a moral and decent person. I also don't believe in a vengeful and angry God who is going to punish me if I don't obey men who tell me what I can and can't do in order to get to heaven. Many religions use guilt and fear to control their members. I would rather find ways of being happy and giving to others on my own rather than sitting in a stuffy church listening to people who would rather exclude others instead of recognizing them as being ok the way they are.

Due to the fact that these
Christians use the Protestant Old Testament which is lacking 7 entire books 2 (Tobias, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus/Sirach, Baruch, I Maccabees, and II Maccabees), 3 chapters of Daniel and 6 chapters of Esther may be one of the reasons they ask catholics so many questions.
For the Sola Scriptura this is too bad .
In the 16th c., Luther removed those books from the canon that lent support to orthodox doctrine, relegating them to an appendix. Removed in this way were books that supported such things as:
prayers for the dead (Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45),
Purgatory (Wisdom 3:1-7),
intercession of dead saints (2 Maccabees 15:14),
and intercession of angels as intermediaries (Tobit 12:12-15).
The lesson, though, is this: relying on the "Bible alone" is a bad idea; we are not to rely solely on Sacred Scripture to understand Christ's message. While Scripture is "given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16-17), it is not sufficient for reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. It is the Church that is the "pillar and ground of Truth" (1 Timothy 3:15)! Jesus did not come to write a book; He came to redeem us, and He founded a Sacramental Church through His apostles to show us the way. It is to them, to the Church Fathers, to the Sacred Deposit of Faith, to the living Church that is guided by the Holy Spirit, and to Scripture that we must prayerfully look.

i feel the same way that you do about religion. I think that anymore it does more harm than good. It divides us and causes us to look down on others.
EDIT: lol yeah dannamanna everything on earth is perfect and made by a perfect deity, that is why only 10 % of the animal species ever to roam the earth still live to this day.

may sound funny or not. what sounds even more bazar is thinking about how the first matter or whatever came about. then out of that created a perfect earth that is so perfect that life exist. i mean when you go into the details of how perfect earth is to me there is no other explanation but a perfect God who created us. if we were just a tiny bit farther away from the sun we would be to cold. a little closer we would burn. plus then gravity is perfect. the rotation is perfect. everything is perfect.

I'm sure Christ would have a preference, but you have to find out the answer to this question on your own.
Maybe a better question would be how will you know the right religion when you find it?

Whichever one gives you inner peace and makes you nice and likable to others. In other words, if you can't sleep at night, maybe God is trying to tell you something....

No theistic religion can prove any of its claims. They'd all like to try and convince you otherwise, though, usually by quoting the very book their claims come from. Makes tons of sense, huh?

Religion is for the dogs. A relationship with Jesus Christ is the ONLY way.
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" (John 14:6)
