He was a dude that lived in India about 500BC. Anyway, he meditated a lot and came to the conclusion that desires are what causes suffering, so we should stop desiring things as much as we can so we can be happy.

His idea was so good, he got tons of followers and of course was later thought of as a god. But he was a GREAT philosopher, or prophet if you believe in such things.

The Buddha was a guy who meditated and became "the awakened one", or one who saw the ultimate truth without (or mostly without) delusion. He wasn't a god, he was a man, but he attained the supreme goal of Enlightenment and is revered as a cherished teacher for passing the knowledge on.

Buddha, or Buddha-nature are the aspects of all persons/things/events that have Buddha-like qualities, such as the inclination to be content; peaceful, not suffer, non-conflict, etc.

BUddha is not a God.
A Buddha is a person who has relesed himself from suffering by realising the truth.

THE Buddha was an Indian prince who left his great life on a journey to understand life. He became the Buddha of this era.

Anybody can become a buddha, they just have to try and realise it.

Either the historical man now named Buddha, who was Prince Siddhartha, or the Enlightened One as an abstraction. Because as I understand it, there is a unity to enlightenment which makes it valid to discuss Buddha as a single enlightened entity, even if there are many, many material manifestations of that One.

Buddha is the bodishiva of the Buddhist religion. He founded it. Sort of like Jesus founding Christianity. If one follows his teachings he might one day achieve Nirvana or perfect peace and harmony.

Gautama Buddha was a South Asian spiritual leader who lived between approximately 563 BCE and 483 BCE, although Buddhist legends stated that he was born on April 8, 1029 BCE, and died on February 15, 949 BCE.

His teachings are far wiser and moral than Jesus. He lived long before Jesus did.
