Ah, the question: Are you hanging on in quiet desperation, or is there something else? I really want to know.

No, my friend. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year.

Every day is closer to death; it might even be tomorrow. I think of every moment as my immortality. What is there but the now? I just remembered a bit of an old song: "Sing while the music's there, dance while it's in the air, love while the love is there, & let tomorrow be tomorrow." There's also a quote I like: "What matters it what went before or after, now with myself I will begin & end." No quiet desperation for me, thank you. As long as I can walk upright & handle my own cutlery. (Aside from unpredictable illness, or accidents I have a long way to go.) There is SO much "something else." Laughter (the best), geese flying to the sunset, wind chimes on this windy evening, drifting columns of light in the lake, the scent of mint & rosemary, music, serenity of silence when alone, sharing with friends, good grief, I could go on & on. Did I say this before, or did I pick it up from someone here--life is to thrive--not to think about death,--unless there's something you left out...

i locate that that's often pessimistic. that's partly authentic for people who view dying because of the fact the top, yet i don't see it that way. i think of dying isn't loads of something, i'm promised eternity with God because of the fact of Christ and the religion he gave me that I stay in. John 6 39 "And it particularly is the desire of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, yet improve them up on the final day. 40 For my Father’s will is that completely everyone who seems to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal existence, and that i will improve them up on the final day.”
