Return it with the money of course, it's not mine to keep.
Sorry it was returned to you empty... just remember not to be too quick to blame the person who returned it; lots of pickpockets throw the empty wallet or purse away, so the person who turned it in may've found it with just the ID and the money already gone!

This is an easy one to answer. I would return the wallet with the money and all the contents to the owner. I try and do things and act the way i would want someone to do for me. That makes it very easy to always do the right thing. Sorry to hear you lost your money but do not assume the one that returned the wallet to you also took the money. Perhaps the one that took the money threw the wallet somewhere else, and the person that found it did the right thing and returned it to you.

I wouldn't even have to think about it. I would check the ID, and contact the owner to return the wallet.
Why? Because it's not mine, and the owner of the wallet I'm sure would need the $200.
About me? I once picked up a $1 bill when I was at the cashier and gave it to her and said that someone before me must have dropped this. I then paid for my stuff and left. I posted this on YA, you can check the responses I got. Many felt I should have just kept the $1, b/c it was afterall, just $1. But that's my point, whatever the amount, it wasn't mine.

I would return the wallet with the money in it. Years ago when my son was 7 years old, I had just lost my job. In a parking lot we found a wallet with several hundred dollars and a paycheck in it. Knowing how the owner must have been feeling, I looked up the person in the telephone directory using the owner's driver's license information. After I made a phone call to him, the man came to my house and was simply astounded that all the money was still in the wallet. He gave us a large reward. To this day, my son remembers this lesson in honesty.

Return the wallet intact.
This actually happened to me twice. I found a wallet at work that belonged to a contractor doing work at our facility. It was pay day and there was over $700.00 in it. I returned it and refused the money he offered as a reward. Told him to buy me coffee sometime. Which he did.
Also found a wallet in a shopping cart. The address was close to where I lived so I drove to the address. No one was home so I left it between the storm door and inside door.

Return the wallet and money. I'm willing to lose sleep over a lot of things - - $200 is not one of them.

I would return the wallet with the money and everything that I found in it to the person.
Imagine if it was yours?
Are there pics in it-they are prob very important to the person.
Good luck and hope you choose the right thing to do!

I've had that happen too. It sucks, but I would have to say having been on the other side of it I would leave the money intact and return it to the rightful owner. It's the only right thing to do.

I would return the whole thing. It has the ID, so you can find it's rightful. Someone might need it more then you. Now, if I found $200 sitting on the ground. I would probably keep it. You will never find the owner and you'll only get people that "claim" they are.
