Once when my son was a year old, I placed him in his crib for his usual mid-afternoon nap while I tended to cleaning the kitchen. About 15 minutes later I hear someone "running" towards me (I live alone w/ my son so fear sunk in quickly) when I look into the living room here I see my sweet son laughing & dancing b/c he just succeeded in climbing out of his crib... he scared me half to death but it was soooo cute!

What were you doing when your child did this and how old were they?

My boy is in nursery this year and he has been going to school for 3 weeks already. He is toilet trained at home before we sent him to school but the thing is whenever the teacher asked him to go toilet, he will control his urine. By the end of the 4 hrs lesson, he will wet his pants. It happens everyday and its really getting me up on my nerves. No kids in his class are wetting their pants anymore and they follow the teacher when she brings them to the toilet. He doesn't wet his bed at night anymore but why is he still wetting himself in school? Can someone please help to give me some good advice? Your help is really appreciated....

It is an indoor swim party with Nemo as the theme. I was going to give each kid a real goldfish and goldfish bowl. Of course, I would keep the fish in its store bought plastic bag during the party and just insert the bag in the bowl and place each bowl at the seat each kid will sit at. What do you think?

How many of you parents would be mad if your 3-4 year old got a fish?

My son loves to wear the big boy underwear we bought him. But he uses them just like a diaper. Pee in them...change them.. He hates the potty big and small. When he has a pull up on and he is wet or dirty he goes to his room, changes the diaper, and the pants all on his own. He shows alot of interest, but it does not go any farther than that. What should I do?

My nearly 3 year old daughter loves to play dress-up. Most of the time it's one of her dresses with my flip-flops. I was thinking about maybe getting her a pair for sumer. The only thing though, my husband says it's unsafe. I know I wouldn't put them on her to go to the park or anything, but what about just to wear out? If she were to wear them to walmart or something, is that dangerous? I've always worn them and never had a problem but I have no clue when it comes to my daughter.

Some friends of ours are always comparing their children to ours.Always making underhand comments about how their children have this or that better.Always boasting. They try to come off like they are giving us advice, helping us to make sure our kids are at least almost as good as theirs. Why do they behave this way?Do they not realize they are turning people off with this behavior, that they are hurting people's feelings?

For the past three months he has not slept through the night. At random hours he comes into my bed to sleep with me. The first week he had the accident I let him sleep with me so he would be secure and I assumed he kept coming back because we established a pattern. But my mother informed me recently he has been having nightmares.

The accident occured as a result of a Little Tikes toy dislodging and falling onto him propelling him onto the cement area of the playground. He scraped his head and it looked so awful I had to hold back from crying. I took him to the emergency room and he had an MRI. There was no damage on the x-ray and with using aloe vera and cocoa butter the scar is pretty much clear now. But my mother said in his nightmares he's grabing his head and and yelling out "no, no, no". What should I do to help him?

Before knowing he was having nightmares I was actually scolding him for waking in the middle of the night to sleep in my bed and now I feel so guilty.

My son Is very intelligent, I have recieved the line from teachers, "I dont think your son has ADD but.... over the past 2 years, this year he is in first grade and its getting better, but sometimes his teacher said he got a little wild, I noticed at home also he had some hyper moments, he is not a "bad or naughty" kid he gets in trouble for silly things like forgetting to put his backpack away (which his baby brother gets into and rips his homework) I decide to take him off sugar completely for 2 weeks, he got dark circles under his eyes for a couple of days, now all of the sudden he has a great appetite, he is more calm, anyway my question is if anyone has experienced this before, I feel as if I have been poisining my son for year by giving in to his want of sugar, My son is so smart and sweet, I feel like I have cheated him by making pre-school and Kindergarten so hard for him, please let me know what you have experienced Thanks

I adopted my dog from a shelter 11 years ago. She was my 1st dog and a true family member in every sense of the word. I had her long before I was married or had children. Since having children, my intense relationship with her mellowed, but was a good one nonetheless. She died less than a month of being diagnosed w/ bone marrow cancer. I'm devastated. My children are young & have been very fortunate not to have any death experiences up until this time. My son keeps telling me that he wishes he could "just pet her again." I would have told him before she passed, but she deteriorated in two days & my husband wound up in an emergency euthanasia situation on Sunday. It was so sad. We've tried to be as honest as we can without instilling fear. I know it is healthy for him to see me express grief, but I am really just devastated. I haven't done the dishes in 2 days and am in a real fog. I miss her so badly. People don't empathize with pet loss too well. How can I help us cope? Thanks.

and her bottom lip is already irritated, and the skin underneath her bottom lip is red and it looks as though blisters are appearing. I have only seen her actually suck on her lip once, (tonight) right before bed. She just started daycare and I am scared she is doing this out of nervousness. How can I get her to stop before it damages her teeth and turns into a big ordeal? I have spoken to her about how she is giving herself an "owie" and shown her the damage in the mirror. But she is only 2.. what can i do besides putting something "that tastes yucky" on her face? She also has been biting her nails to the nubbs sense she was 1.. I haven't had to cut her nails in a year and a half!

p.s. she is a very outgoing, talkative little girl and only seems insecure when being introduced to children, not adults.

help please!

My daycare lady said it is way more than she has seen in any other kid she has watched in 18 years. I took him to 5 different doctors who all said that he is normal, but they have not seen him for long periods of time, just on the visits where of course- he is an angel. He won't even sit on the floor and just play with me, he always wants to be doing something or crying- even if he has my undevided attention- he cries. Now he is to the age where it seems like he is just being a brat, but he has always been this way! My husband thinks it is normal- but I don't. I can not believe people would have more than one if this was normal! Has anyone ever been through this? I think maybe it is something medical- or something- I have to believe this is not as good as it gets, but I do not even know if there is a specialist or anything for this? Any ideas before I go crazy? I will do whatever needs to be done, but I just do not even know where to start.
