My daughter has always slept fine, she goes to bed at night about 8:30 but not to sleep, she does not sleep during the day, I do not give her caffine, and we drink sugar free koolaid. She stays up all night and destroys her room completely. She takes all the clothes out of the closet and out of the drawers, almost ever night. Last night I found her at least 4 times watching TV in her brothers room while he was sound asleep. I've tried everything I know to do and I can't take much more of the all night party going on in my house. You would think she would be tired all day, but she is not. I don't know what caused the change in her sleeping habbits, this has been going on for about 3 weeks. Can anyone offer a solution I'm fresh out of them. Thanks

My sons are 6 and 3. My 6 year old has been home schooled until now when we have decided to put him in a private school. He helped us make this decision by saying he wanted to go to school with other kids. Last year he didn't want to go to school with others. My 3 year old has some learning and social problems and I would like to home school him for maybe 3 or 4 years. Will this cause jealousy?

My daughter is 4 years old and lately she has been touching her private parts. For example when she gets out of the tub she touches her boobies, and when shes sitting on the couch she sometimes puts her hands down her pants and touches her pee pee. Every once in a while she tries to touch my breasts, and of course I tell her she cant. But as for her touching herself I realize shes young and learning about her body. Should I tell her its ok as long as shes in private or should I tell her not to do it at all?

My mom keeps on buying things for my oldest daughter who is 4 and not my other little one who is 2 years old. My 2 year old just stands there and stares at her. Then on the way home my 4 year old tells her "don't worry, when I outgrow this you can have it- ok". Or "don't worry, I'll let you use it too." The other day I got something for my 2 year old and my 4 year old asked if that was because grandma didn't get her anything. Should I say anything to my mom? If so, what and how should I say it. Or, should I go through my dad? He is already trying to get my mom to buy things for the 2 year old. She loves her but gloats over the special bond she feels for my 4 year old. I would rather she didn't buy anything for either child rather than just buy for one. Help Please! Thanks

my little girl who is 5 years old has just been sent home from school with aching back and legs, and a high temp. when my husband picked up my little girl the teacher told him that chickenpox is going around the school, she has had all her imms but im not sure if she has them as there is no rash. i am 18 wks pregnant and know there is only a small risk to my unborn child but would feel a little better knowing if my little girl had chickenpox.

I am a custodial stepparent of a 4 year old. He recently tried to stick his penis in his 12 month old baby brothers mouth. We decided that this was not normal behaviour and have made an appt to take him to a child psychologist to see if they can get any info about where he learned this. About a month ago, he started pitching a fit when his mom came to pick him up to visit. We have all concluded that we think it may be his 11 yr old stepbrother that did this (mom thinks this may be the case too). The stepbrother is her husbands son and visits the same time that ours does. My husband decided that it would be best for her to visit him here or take him out to eat until his doctor appt and we find out what happened. She flipped out and is threatening to call her attorney. Did we handle this correctly? Our thoughts are to keep him safe, not keep him from his mom. At first, she was upset but cooperative but now she is angry and vindictive. This is not about us it is about him.

Often during the day, my 14 month old son will go into his room, and purposely close the door to his room. Then he will fuss (perhaps out of frustration?) when he can't get out. I have always went to his room and told him I was there and let him out. I guess I have a few questions about this. I read about there being some seperation anxiety in some toddlers.
1 How should I react when he does this?
2 Could he just be uncertain of us being there for him?
3 Has anyone experienced this with a toddler?

I would be appreciative of any advice or suggestions you can give me.
Thanks in Advance.

My girls just went to childcare centre for 2 months and she is standing to pee like a boy. I have taught her many times that girl is different from boy and that's why girl need to sit and pee. She don't seem convince, and keep practising to stand and aim at the toilet bowl.

My wife says that I am mean to our 2 year old. I say that I'm firm. She is always asking to go potty, and ususally my wife lets her sit there for at least 5 minutes a sit. And she rarely pees. I know she is making this up to stay up for a little longer. I'm in favor of just putting her gently back into her bed everytime she gets up, without saying a single word to her. My wife also lets her sleep in our bed after she wakes up in the middle of the night. There have been only a handful of days where I woke up to go to work in the morning and my daughter wasn't sleeping nearby. That is putting a huge strain on our marriage. We have only one child, and my wife doesn't work. I don't feel like helping out at all at home because everything I do is wrong according to my wife. I'm tired of trying, and I really feel like going on strike. What do you think?

My daughter will be 3 in April, and we have just started potty training this past weekend. She is doing awesome going pee on the potty, but she is having trouble pooping. I know this is not unusual..I am just wondering why kids have trouble pooping when they pee just fine.
She only poops in a pull-up, so after she tells me a couple times that she has to poop (cause she won't go right away) I put her in a pull-up and she poops happily. I know better than to force her to poop on the potty..I know it will come in time, but what is this issue that kids have? Anything I can do to help her along?

I have read that in other countries babies are usually potty trained by their first year. Does anyone know how to potty train a 10 month old boy? He can stand, but I'm willing to start him off by sitting, he can always learn to stand and pee later.

I've bought several cook books in the past to appeal to my son's tastebuds with little evidence of success. The problem: vegetables (primarily)! I have had a few hits but mostly misses. I would like to introduce new recipes before he tires of old ones completely.
What's worked thus far:
Campbell's Healthy Choice soups (unexplicably works for now)
Omlette sandwiches (finely chopped veggies)
Pasta with Spaghetti sauces (again with the fine chopped vegs)

For now we suppliment with Pediasure but I hope not forever.

I'm wondering if I will have to pay for her to have her own seat? Will I be able to take her forward-facing car seat on the plane(haven't bought one yet since she's only 11 months)? And if I can take her car seat, do you know of any brands that fold in half or something or are easy to transport when you already have to push an umbrella stroller and carry bags?? Also, how much carry-on are you allowed, and will I even be able to bring the umbrella stroller on the plane when I'll have a big diaper bag as well? I'll be flying from Seattle, WA to Des Moines, IA in March and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for me or could answer my questions. It will be a little hard because my husband will not be flying with us so I have to carry all this stuff around by myself!! Thanks!

My daughter is 2 next week and her latest trick the last month or so is opening screw top containers. She mastered the push down tops, doors etc ages ago and already knows how to climb with the aid of chairs and that you can move them to get where you want! She opens the milk, the blackcurrant juice, olive oil, infact anything with a screw top and we cannot put child locks on cos the house is rented and its a new kitchen. We have already heaps in the top cupboards which is fun for me as I am only 5ft 2! Also, what else have I to look forward to?!
