I HAVE 2 YR OLD THAT IS SO SMART I WANT TO GET HER INTO A MAGNATE SCHOOL, BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO GET HER IN. I WANT HER IN SCHOOL ASAP. SHE HAS A MIND THAT REMEMBERS EVERYTHING. PICTURES, COLORS, SHAPES, ABC's, AND CAN COUNT TO 12 IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH. I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH HER. SHE WANTS TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY.

SO IF YOU LIVE IN TENN PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHERE I START.

THANK YOU.

Okay, I'm confused. A question you posted 2 weeks ago said you live in Florida. This question says Tennessee......anyway, congrats on having a precocious little girl. And please don't discount public school completely. I have 3 smart kids, who are getting an excellent education in public school. When your daughter is a little older, the public schools can test her to determine if she's gifted. If so, most schools have programs for gifted kids. However, some school districts have better programs than others, so you'll need to stay informed and research area districts.
As for now, just keep encouraging her curiosity. And like another person mentioned, you may want to check into churches for a Mother's Day Out program. They are relatively inexpensive. My boys went to Mother's Day Out, and it worked out great for them. It's enough to stimulate their minds and get them socialization, but not so much that they have to go all day, everyday!

Whoa, Nellie! The best thing you can do for your daughter is NOT put her in a magnet school at the tender age of two. She may be very intelligent, but let her be a little girl for a bit before you start shipping her off! Children have enough "schooling" as it is--15 years of it or more! She needs YOU more than anything at this stage in her life & you are the best person to encourage her mental and spiritual growth! Go exploring--look at different leaves on the trees! Take her to the zoo & show her different animals! Go dig a hole in the backyard, fill it w/ water & watch as she explores the water and mud---its consistency & lack of solidness. Get a plastic pool & let her splash! Everyday life is "learning" for a child of that age and sharing it with Mommy makes it even more special. Do your daughter a big favor & just let her be a little girl for a little bit longer. God bless.

I taught preschool for several years and I have to tell you that while yes your child may be intelligent for her age I seriously doubt that she is emotionally ready or mature enough for a strict education setting at this time. This is something that parents fail to remember when they get excited about their child's learning abilities. Just because she may know her alphabet and seems eager to learn does not mean that she is ready to handle a classroom setting. I would suggest looking into a half day preschool program, many churches offer such programs and it would be wonderful for her at this age. No it will not be as intense as say a magnet school, but she will be spending the next 12-20 years in school, considering when you start preschool and if she attends college, why not let her be a child for a little bit longer. Good luck.

Firstly, stop talking in caps. Secondly, check with the office of the school district that you are in.
