I’m always looking for ways to make my children’s life safer, but with more than half the products I have in my house that says, "Keep out of reach of Children it’s hard to keep them safe. I have all the safety gadgets but they get into everything. I was reading a parent magazine and read a write-up called “Mr. No-No Saves Children’s Lives”. Read your kids the book then put stickers of Mr. No-No on things you don't want your children to touch. It says they did a case study on infants to preteens and they documented a one-year-old baby would not touch anything Mr. No-No was on including his stuffed bear. So I went on line, I noticed there are a couple other safety characters, but they are stupid. Looks like allot of time and effort went into Mr. No-No. Some characters were just outright pathetic. Would it be easier for children to learn to stay away from Mr. No-No or just try to keep teaching them all places & things not to touch? Check it out www.mrnono.com let me know what you think.

Hubby and I are expecting baby #2 in four months. Our first child is 22 months old right now. I'd like to introduce potty training soon because she has shown a real interest and I believe she's ready. However, I've read that a new baby can push a toddler's potty training progress way back, and I would hate to spend all that time training her if she is likely to revert back to diapers.

To the experienced parents out there, what has worked for you and what do you suggest? Would it be better to wait until she's had a chance to adjust to the new baby before even thinking of the potty? Or would it be better to get started now and deal with any set-backs as they come?

My wife and i have adopted a wonderful 4 year old girl and will be adopting her in the near future. We have one couple who have really been our closest friends through thick and thin. We always had asked their advice on how to handle things about parenting etc. Although we could see that they had little or no control over their own 4 year old girl ,we thought they still might have some good info to share. My wife is a 5th grade teacher and although we have never had kids our outlook was good and we had plans on how we would handle discipline etc. When it came down to the families getting together it became quite clear that we'd be using things like "time-outs" etc. while they did nothing to stop their daughters bad behavior. They have since become very distant and I almost feel like they dont want to be with us because it shows them what they are NOT doing to keep their daughter in check. I cant help but feel they think "we know it all" etc. is this common ?????

When my 7 yo son watches football on TV which he loves or watches anybody play video games on TV which he also loves, he gets so excited and he jerks his arms and also moves his hands constantly, as well as rubs them. Could this be a form of autism. I've always suspected him to have a mild form of it. Other reasons I think so is because he talks to himself all the time and can entertain himself for hours alone. He also still is a "head beater" but only at night or early morning which he started when he was old enough to lift his head. He's never done this during fits. He was also a bed wetter for the longest time and last week he urinated while wide awake in the car and didn't say anything. Can anybody help me out or can anybody relate? Thanks.

I love reading stories about funny incidents or misunderstandings between parents and children, my mom always tells this story of when I was about 3 sitting at the dinner table:

mom: Jenny, what would you like to drink
me: milk

me: NOO I said Juice!!
mom: No, you said milk, do you want milk or juice?
me: MILK!!

me: NO! I want Juice!
mom: Jennifer, you said Milk!
me: MOM! Milk is spanish for JUICE!

haha, I must have seen something on seasame street, im not sure where I got it from, but I can't wait to have my own kids and have some of these funny moments, what are some of yours??

Just got back from my WIC appointment and instead of putting my son who will be one years old feb 3rd on whole regular milk ...they suggested i keep him on formula for another 2 months which i wanted to do anyways....The reason why is because he will not CHEW his food, he will swallow it whole so he gags and vomits unless it is easy baby food to swallow...he is obviously not ready....she told me instead of giving him baby 3 foods to just put whatever we make in a blender for him but me and my boyfriend have take out every night as its easier cause he does not get home til 9 pm.....so it baby 3rd foods just as good?.

I watch two kids all day long. A three year old and a 21 mth. old. The three year old I've had potty-trained since October. However, only while I'm there in the daytime. His parents don't follow up. He hasn't had one accident with me since September but is in a diaper or pullup everyday. They aren't opposed but don't push it either. When he wants a pullup or diaper on, he can. How can I get him to realize that he enjoys his underpants better than the diapers, so he will wear his underpants the rest of the time?

My son has no problem using his potty to go pee, but when it comes to pooping, he will only go in his pull-up. We know when he is "going", but he refuses to sit on the potty to finish.

Any ideas?

I hv two daughters, my elder one can talk when she is only 7 mths old but her little sis is so slow and till now still refuse to talk. Although she is quiet but she is intelligent as whatever i taught her she learnt very fast infact her learning speed is better than her elder. Now the only words she can say is 'Ma' mean mother and immitate a few animal sounds but without opening her mouth or ask her example to say "elephant" she will Hmm..Hmm..hmm.. or "bird" she will say hmm like that. i mean she can hum the syallubas of the sound. She also can recongnise certain words already. So should I need to worry? should I let her see doctor or wait.

My child will be celebrating her birthday this week, and I'm trying to think of a snack that we can bring into her preschool that's not too messy or sugary. Most kids bring in cookies, donut holes, cupcakes. If we brought stickers or coloring books instead of a snack, would that be so bad? There are 13 kids in the class. Thanks for any ideas!

Both of my kids (8 month old and three year old) have been really sick with colds and ear infections for the past week and a half. My son has missed almost two weeks of preschool. Both kids are much better now and are sleeping at the moment. Should I wake them both up so that I can take my son to school this morning or let them both sleep and skip it again?

I,ve heard that when children eat stuff that isn't food, like dirt, matches, etc., they are missing something in their diet. Does licking things mean the same thing, or are they just discovering taste and texture by licking?
