You can choose between sugar and artificial sweetener. Personally i don't trust the stuff (artificial sweeteners that is). There is whole websites dedicated to the pros and cons of artificial sweeteners. Do a google on Aspartame ...
I have a 3.5year old now. She used to get diluted juice, water and chamomile tea at that age. If you buy proper juice there will be no added sugar. Some of the ones from concentrate will have sugar added.
I don't want to start an advertising campaign so won't mention drink's names.
All the ones that tell you 'No Added Sugar' will be laced with artificial sweeteners.
Nothing wrong with good old water though ... when mine was 2 she drank more of it than she does now. but i'm sure when she asks for a glass of water now it's partly because she grew up with it.

The best drink is water. All juices (pure or artificial) contain some sugar and can damage teeth if drunk to excesss.
If he won't take plain water then dilute 1 part juice to AT LEAST 10 parts water. Any 100% pure fruit juice will do (orange, apple. pineapple etc).
If it says "juice drink" chances are it is 90% sugar, 3% juice and the rest water, flavourings and colourants. Learn to read labels. Even "Organic" juice drinks can be sugar in disguise. If you can't understand the terms then do you really want to be giving it to your son?????

Gerber Splashers is a 100% juice that is 60% juice and 40% water I believe. Or just get a thing of the normal Gerber Juice and dilute it yourself.
When choosing juice always choose 100% and never Juice drinks, cocktail, etc because they have added sugar and artificial flavors and are not the healthier choice.

1/2 water & 1/2 O.J. Grape & apple juice are bad on the teeth. Will cause rapid teeth decay. Teeth should be brushed well by an adult after any fruit juice drink or drink containing sugar. But O.J. is the least dammageing

I give both of my children Juicy Juice. My 7 mon old gets it 50/50 with water and my 3 yo drinks it as is. It is 100% juice with no added sugars. It even tastes good and comes in about 10-15 different flavors. WIC endorses it and it is part of their nutrition program. Good luck!

White grape juice is the least irritating to the lining of intestines, so they say. I usually dilute my daughter's juice in about a 1:4 ratio to water, enough to keep her drinking fluids but not enough to make her bounce off the walls:)

I just used fresh apple juice and diluted it by half. Obviously the best drink is water but they don't always like it. My daughter hates water on its own.
