I have never heard of a child getting sick or dieing from eating their boogers(I'm sure at some point we have ALL eaten a booger or two) As disgusting as it is they say it can actually help build their immune system.

Yes, whatever germs and dirt are present in there will most likely die in your stomach. It is mostly composed of complex sugar molecules so its not unsafe to eat boogers. Smegma on the other hand does cause cancer (i'm serious people. keep it clean down there).

Digging for Nasal Gold with a Doc's Blessing
An Austrian doctor is proposing that children be encouraged to pick their nose and to eat their boogers. "Dr Bischinger said: 'With the finger you can get to places you just can't reach with a handkerchief, keeping your nose far cleaner.'"
And ".....people who pick their nose and eat it get a natural boost to their immune system for free."
Who knew that the dirty kid in your grade school class who picked his nose all the time and ate it would have a stronger immune system?

This is disgusting and a pet peeve of mine when parents don't dicipline their children for picking their noses and eating boogers. My nieces used to do this and I was totally disgusted and always tried to embarris them to make them stop. Thank goodness my kids never did this and I wouldnt have allowed it if they did!

I have yet to meet or hear of a toddler that has died of booger-poisoning, as sick as it is, I do not think it is unsafe....just gross.
