Toddler & Preschooler - December 2006

I have had to pick him up from preschool at least twice a week for hitting and kicking. His preschool is fed up, bout to kick him out. He doesnt do this at home as much as at school. I have tried stricter rules, and disiplinary actions. Nothing seems to work. I have spanked his bottom, took all his toys away, grounded to his room, no tv, sent to bed eairly. He doesnt seem to even understand what he is doing wrong, or what he is in trouble for. Is it something I am not doing right, or wrong? I have been so stressed out over this, cause everything I do seems like one step forward and two steps back.

on diet Pepsi? Are your hungry, stomach growling babies, forced to go without food for extended periods of time in "classrooms" in order to reduce the school's workload and keep the classroom clean?

How can I get my 3½ year old son (my youngest of 3) to willingly use the toilet. If I put him on it he will use it, but he won't go on his own. He is in pre-k and the only one that won't use the toilet there either

He's potty trained as long as I let him go around the house naked. He hates underware everytime I try to make him wear them he pee's as soon as their on. I've tried boxer and breifs and even let him go to the store to pick out which one's he wanted. Nothings worked yet. I know he's ready he can't stand to wear diapers if their even a little wet. He just has something against underware.

She doesn't eat much ( her doctor isn't concerned too much because her weight is fine ) so we thought that getting her to drink a full serving of fruit and vegetables through V8 would help. Now it is all she will drink, but this morning I noticed that her feet and legs look slightly yellow. I am concerned. Should I take her to the doctor? We don't have insurance! Help!

On average how much? How much weight did your toddler gain between one and two years?
I am asking because I want to know if the reusable nappies I am getting will fit her until potty training(hopefully just before 2) or if I should get the large size and have them be a little too big for a while.
She is 15 months old and weighs 20 pounds, the nappies go up to 25lb.

My son on Friday came home from head start saying that Santa is not real. I am not sure how to react to him saying this. I want Christmas to be majestical for him and my two year old daughter, but this to not be weighing on his mind. I also think he is too young to tell him such things, and wondered if a parent has told their child, who in turn has told his or her classmates...

My son is 13 months and still nurses at night when he wakes up at least 2-3 times. How do I get my son to wean away from nursing at night and for him to sleep throughout the night? Nursing at night now may cause him to have teeth decay if I continuously nurse.

I just got rid of the "BA" as my 16month old calls them last night! I have tried all kinds of sippy cups and he refuses to drink milk out of any of them! He's very stubborn and I don't want him to get dehydrated! He likes water and juice, however he will only take a few drinks out of a straw sippy and throw the cup on the floor. He cried all night it seemed like and still refuses the sippy today! He is my 3rd child and my other two(Mariah 6 & David 11) went from bottle to sippy at age 1 (cold turkey). Ryan(my 16month old) not so easy. The doctor said at his 15month checkup that he needs to make the transition before his 18month checkup. I'm determined to win this battle, but it's very hard to see him fuss/cry and not wanting to drink anything!

Ok i babysit a "delayed" boy who has a hard time walking. I phiscally have to put him on the school bus every morning. he can not get up the stairs. I also have a 10 month old baby. That i need to use a stroller for.
Well there are these 2 house on the way there that have never shovled their side walks. The one house no one lives there and the other one is a tow truck driver. So i understand that he is very busy right now. But there is a bylaw in town snow MUST be removed from side walks 48 hours after snow fall.

This is making it very difficult for me. one is a corner house vacant one. So walking on the road is not that safe with people whipping around the corner. it is that on i want shovled. no i can not do it my self. 3 kids of my own plus extras. To tried by the end of the day.

Any thoughs.. IF i report the one. the other one will get a fine too.I also live in a very Small town. The tow truck driver doesnt deserve a fine. he is the only one around.. Super busy.

I have a three year old son who will be four in February. I have tried helping his speech via flashcards and other fun little games. He doesn't talk much, but rather repeats whatever is said to him or around him. He has a younger brother, who is 1 1/2--I wonder if this could be the reason his development has slowed down. Also, he did not start walking until he was 1 1/2, took spells as an infant in talking but then stopped talking, and now will not use the toilet unless you assure him to poo poo and pee pee in the toilet. What are some things that would help in his development? I've heard little boys are sometimes slower so I haven't brought this up to the pediatrician yet--should I? What are some possibilities as to why he's at a difference pace? Could it be us moving to GA when he was used to his surroundings at 18 months of age? I find it hard to believe he's simply slow because he spells out "thank you", can count to 20, and other things. Anyone with similar experiences?

I want to get my son a pet for christmas but I'm not sure what to get. He loves animals and is very gentle. I would love to get him a dog but we rent a house and are not allowed to have an inside cat or dog and I don't like keeping pets outside in the winter. I was wandering if a hampster or guinie pig would be a good idea. I know they like to chew and I had a hampster when I was small that bit and gave my a few stitches so I'm not so sure about getting another one, especually since I know my son will want to hold what ever pet he gets. Does anyone have any suggestions on what would be a good indoor pet besides a cat or dog that would be good for a young child?

OK.. So both of my sons have double ear infections... and they are both on antibiotics. Now, both of them (ages 2 yrs and 9 months) have extremely red cheeks and chins...

1) Is this normal?

2) Is this something to be concerned about? I don't think its an allergic reaction to the meds because so far 3 of my 4 kids have allergies to meds (all different ones ofcourse..) and I know what that looks like! (all too well..lol)

3) Why would both boys be doing this to me at the same time??????
