Ok i babysit a "delayed" boy who has a hard time walking. I phiscally have to put him on the school bus every morning. he can not get up the stairs. I also have a 10 month old baby. That i need to use a stroller for.
Well there are these 2 house on the way there that have never shovled their side walks. The one house no one lives there and the other one is a tow truck driver. So i understand that he is very busy right now. But there is a bylaw in town snow MUST be removed from side walks 48 hours after snow fall.
This is making it very difficult for me. one is a corner house vacant one. So walking on the road is not that safe with people whipping around the corner. it is that on i want shovled. no i can not do it my self. 3 kids of my own plus extras. To tried by the end of the day.
Any thoughs.. IF i report the one. the other one will get a fine too.I also live in a very Small town. The tow truck driver doesnt deserve a fine. he is the only one around.. Super busy.

Is it possible for you to use a sled until the problem is solved? Get one they can both sit on bundled in blankets and pull them to the corner they'll love it. That's all I can think of off hand, Good luck

Ive never heard of a town that required the home owners to keep up the town property which is the side walks. I do know its law in all the towns in our area to have the sidewalks plowed within 48 hours, but not the home owners. Theyre only responsible for their own walk ways to their houses, and those much be shoveled our your mail will not be delivered.
The only reason I know all this is because my husband delivers the mail in the small towns around us.
Ive honestly never heard of a town requiring people to shovel what in essense is state property. We pay taxes for the upkeep of side walks, having them repaired, maintained, poured, and plowed. Are you sure you got the bylaw right? Usually the town can be fined....
If Your town really does require homeowners to maintain town property, I would do this. You obviously have a repore with the kids in the area, so wrangle yourself up a couple 10-12 year olds, give them some snow shovels, have them shovel that part of the side walk, and give them each 5 bucks.
Problem solved, and some kids learned how to make money. Everyone benefits.

What about talking to the tow truck driver? Just tell him that you know he is so busy but you have to take little 'jimmy' and a baby in a stroller and it's scary when the walks aren't shoveled. Ask him what he thinks is the best solution. Tell him you'd do it yourself but with 3+ kids you can't. Ask him what should we do about the vacant house? It's worth a shot...you can ask if he thinks it should be reported. Maybe he will have an idea or solve the problem for you...
Good luck & be careful!

I would see if there is anyone around the neighborhood that wants to help with shoveling. Call around and see if you paid them if they would do it or even for free for the little boy. If I was there I would help you out. If you live in St .Louis let me know! lol! I really wish you the best and I hope that it all works out. Also I feel you on not wanting to get the truck driver in trouble. That is very nice and we need more people like you! Good luck!

See if a neighborhood boy would be willing to earn extra Christmas money by shoveling snow from your sidewalk. Pay him say $20 or $30 for doing it for you. Then maybe at the end give him a cup of hot chocolate. =)

Call the cops. Property owners are required by law to remove the snow from the sidewalks in front of their houses for public safety. They can get sued if someone slips and they can also get fined by the city.

I would talk to the school's transportation department and explain your special needs and ask them to pick up the "delayed" boy at your house. In my school district they pick up all kindergarteners and disabled children at their driveway. In fact the disabled kids ride a special bus. If you explain your troubles i am sure they will help. It may have been okay for you when the weather was nice but now it is too dangerous.

You do understand that snow does soften? I only got here in with my canines, and this is snowing. The snow melts interior a count of seconds. shop your dogs in the basement, kitchen, bathing room, someplace, till the snow is long gone. not sure what the super deal is??? Why might you p.c. to diminish her hair?

Report it annonymously to the city and let them handle it. The city people are under no obligation to tell the offender who made the report.
