She doesn't eat much ( her doctor isn't concerned too much because her weight is fine ) so we thought that getting her to drink a full serving of fruit and vegetables through V8 would help. Now it is all she will drink, but this morning I noticed that her feet and legs look slightly yellow. I am concerned. Should I take her to the doctor? We don't have insurance! Help!

Drinking large amounts of carrot juice can do that to a person, especially a little person. Fusion may have more carrots than regular V-8. Water it down or switch back and forth from reg. v-8 to fusion. Go surfing for jaundice symptoms, but as long as she has decent doses of sunlight it should not be a problem, like I said, go surfing. If her doctor isn't concerned you would do well to listen. Little ones don't eat much. Offer apples, for more creative ways to get the munchkin to munch go to http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/toddler/toddlerfeeding/1186688.html. Happy parenting!!!

It may very well be the juice, but if you are concerned I would call the health department. It likely would not warrant an emergency room visit unless she is having other problems. As for the V8 Fusion, I would lay off of that. The value of her getting a serving of fruits and veggies is far outweighed by the stuff that is in it. It is mostly high fructose corn syrup, which is bad for kids anyway (and it is in alot of juices). Plus, I am not sure how much fiber is in it. Also juices tend to dehydrate kids.

If you would like to make sure your child gets all of her nutrients, try talking to your doc about getting her on a multivitamin. My son is 2, and takes a daily multivitamin syrup that tastes awful, but he takes it without a problem.

Good luck.

I have heard before that eating to many carrots will change the colour of your skin, only for a short period. If your little girl like V8 then maybe you can try to make your own with her. All you need is a blender and fresh fruit and veggies, you can also try milk and ice cream with powdered meal replacements. This will also be cheaper. Also I think that V8 might have to much vitamins for a two year old ( that is only my opinion, I have owned a gym for the last 4 years and I make my own shakes)

vegetables can have certain effects on your skin, but I'm not sure if it will turn skin yellow. I do know that without insurance, you're going to have a hard time in the enxt few years, as your daughter will need a lot of doctors visits. You should be able to get free or low cost health insurance through your state. You can either ask your childs doctor, or call up to a hospital and find out the proper way to get state insurance. Please, I urge to insure your daughter, at the very least. Your state should have insurance that you can get as well, but they will have insurance for children. Also, the state health department usually does a sliding fee scale. Look up the county health department in your phone book, and call them to scheduel an appointment if you are truly concerned about your daughter.

Good luck to you!

i have a friend who has a daughter that would only eat sweet potatoes when she was a bay and was turning slightly orange/yellow. you have to try to get her to drink more clear liquids to get the color out of her skin. i don't think it is a medical emergency just watch her to make sure and be strong when she cries because she only wants the v8 stuff. as far as medical insurance you should either go to the local medicaid office or find a doctor who will work on a sliding scale program that basis your payment on how much income you have. good luck and try hard to get some sort of medical coverage for your child.

It sure will! And the V8 Fusion is not for two year olds. It has too much sodium (check the label) and all of that V8 stuff is no good for a child that young. You would think it would be the whole vegetable thing couldn't be bad. But it's not just veggies. It's not even that good for adults. If you are consistent with getting her to eat fun vegetables and give her vitamins she will be fine. But make sure she is taking childrens vitamins as prescribed.

I have heard that too much of some vegies, like carrots, can turn the skin. Don't let her have any until her skin clears up. Then, in moderation, let her have it again. Make it a "special" time to have her favorite juice, but tell her to be healthy she needs water, milk and other things. 2 years old is old enough to understand your concern for her. I have raised 5 children to adulthood. (my youngest is 18 and a senior in high school)

Yes it's the keratin in the vegetables. It's possible to turn Orange! I would cut down a little. You can also go to the local Health Department and talk to a nurse or nutritionist for free. Good luck

get her on the state healthcare! She will qualify unless you make too much money, if you do, buy a policy!! But yes, high doses of beta carrotine can cause a yellow tinge to the skin, but so can liver problems. Go see a doctor.

I have heard of people turning slightly orange from eating alot of carrots so it is possible that the Juice could be changing the color of her skin. I would at least call a doctor.
