he is 16months i hardly beleive he can wash his own cup.
hi i have an 18 month old daughter and she loves her sippy cup - it is one with a straw and it took her a few days to get hte hang of not having to tip it upside to get a drink. I bought her a bright pink cup with her favourite characters on it (winnie the pooh) maybe if you took your son to the shop and let him choose one that looks attractive to him, even though he is young they still know what you are on about when you are talking to them. i hope my advise helps
xx Good Luck xx

He obviously knows how to use it but is having a behavior battle with you plus there is some change for him to adjust to emotionally.
Do not cave or you will make the battle worse and he does get probably plenty of fluids in his food so if he is eating well I wouldn't panic yet!
I would be firm with him and tell him that all botttles are gone and try to ignore all temper tantrums. Just walk away. You can also tell him that if he would like you can go to the store and he can pick out his own new sippy "big boy" cup. Do this when he is calm not during or shortly after a fit. He may want to pick out the juice that week to fill it : )
Bring him home and have him wash it in the sink to get it ready for use. He may feel more in control and be happy to make his own decisions but you're getting what you need!

Dont worry so much about it - this is proabably what your son is sensing and being stubborn to test you.
Is it that important that he has a sippy cup (by the way I have no idea what that is and i have worked with children for 12 yrs and have a child of my own) - have you tried other cups? anyway up cups are good as they dont leak if they are thrown on the floor. maybe try a normal beaker - but with help
My son refused point blank to use a cup until I found an anyway up cup - stuck stickers of his fav character and made a real big deal about the cup - took a few days - but my h.v said not to worry as he would then need to drink so use it (whilst also offering him drinks through straws etc so he didnt totally dehydrate)
Just be patient - it'll come - just praise him for using it and get his siblings to help you praise and encourage

While 18 months is a good estimate, I fail to see this as a hard-and-fast deadline that your son MUST meet. I tend to think that children move on to the next step when they're ready; if they're not, forcing the issue is probably just going to make it worse. I wouldn't think that the doctor would think that there's something "wrong" if he goes to 19 or 20 months (or however long) before he gives up his bottle. I think a good strategy might be to put something that he REALLY likes in the sippy cup, as opposed to putting something rather ordinary in the bottle; there sometimes nothing like a little strategic bribery to get a new skill going :-)

I understand it's very hard you have to show him examples
like everyone does it, just show him, don't try to force him. ahh
also this is very normal, alot of childern keeps refusing on there first couple of times, and yes, sometimes it takes longer for other kids to grow out of it and start with sippy cups. If all else fails, well that you get tough and just have the sippy cup and don't show his bottles. When hunger kicks in, oh yeah he'll want that cup, no matter what. I had push my brother slowly to start eating instead of someone feeding him, yeah even till the age of 10.

try usuing the gerber sippy cup lid that goes onto a bottle. i am not sure of the real title of the thing, but you replace the nipple with a sippy cup top. it is the newer bottles that are shaped like a triangle with blue tops. my son did not want to give up the bottle either. then i tried these lids because i already had the bottle. before long he would use and sippy cup. it is worth a try!

nicely first i might eliminate all of the bottles. Then neither certainly one of you have a decision. in the adventure that your newborn is thirsty sufficient they are going to honestly use the sippy cup!!! i'm not sure what you have tried yet consistent with possibility purchase sippies together with his well known character on it!

seems like you had to lateraly wean him from the bottle,I guess 2 or 3 days without drinking milk or juice won't cause him dyhydration,it'll just let him know that bottle is not an option, your son is playing with you the kid's old game of "who will get bored first" so let him get boared first, also you may put bitter aloe on his bottle & give it to him, bitter aloe is organic its not harmfull at all it only tastes bad & will let him dislike the bottle
Good Luck
