I recently visited a nursary (Leapfrog) (Uk) and after seeing there advert on the internet and looking at their website I was a little disapointed, the rooms looked glorious and fun and inviting on the pictures, when in reality they where dull and the room my daughter would spend most of her time in did not have any natural light,
The children where running round and seemed happy enough, the manager showed me round and the staff all seemed nice and friendly, they showed me their offstead report, and it looked fine, but I just had a gut feeling, im not sure, the toys all looked suitable for her age, and they have a soft play area with cushions and soft toys to relax with etc, but they again seemed grubby?

The activities where too simple, painting etc, not a challenge, I like to teach my daughter (21 mnths), she knows the full alphabet, she can count upto 15 and backwards, and she speaks better and clearer than my friends 3yr old. I think I was expecting more from the place.....

They used to have a Sesame Street Magazine that you could sign up for and every week they'd send your child a magazine with lots of things for them in it. Do they still have that?

What are some creative ways to help my 13 month old start word development? She says the standard ma-ma, da-da, ba-ba and ga-ga.

This is our first baby and we don't know when real words start.

She/we love to read books and watch the new Baby Einstein "First Words" dvd but I need to know if reading daily is enough. We don't use baby talk to speak to our child and we do speak in whole sentences and encourage her to "guide" us (pointing, grunting, reaching) to express what she wants.

Additionally, in your opinion, are playdates really good environments for word development?

Thanks!

My 3 yr old knows his abc's, how to count, shapes, and colors. We are now learning actual letter and number recognition, but I feel as if he should be learning more? What else is there?
Thank You.

I want my mother to have custody of my son since she has been with he and I since he was born, I dont want the father to all of a sudden try to take him from my mother so, where can i get information for my mother (grandmother) to have custody of my son should I die?

My daughter is 14 months old and recently started screaming her head off when i take her out of her highchair and set her on the floor. If i pick her up she is perfectly fine, but when i take her out of her chair it is because i am going to clean it and i need her to understand that she can't be held all of the time. Should i just let her cry in hopes that she will learn that her cries are not going to get her everything or shoud i really give in to her and comfort her?

I tried pinning all the chairs against the wall behind the table but my son just pushes the table across the room. I am afraid to sleep afraid they will kill them selves babygates dont work he just pushes until it falls down I have no more room to move anything else where and besides my bedroom my house is almost empty as it is. cause I moved next to everything to my room. they just wont listen I can talk I can yell I can spank I can time out and No change

Is it time for the next size up even though she is under the recommended weight range? I've tried several different brands and it doesn't seem to make a difference, so maybe I should increase the size? Seems like it would be way too big.

i babysit this 3 year little boy who cant talk, is not potty trained, doesnt understand anything you say to him, and he just whines all day long. he is being raised by his father who tells me his problem is he just wants my husband to stop and pick him up he wieghs like 80 pounds he to big to sit aand be held. i have tried lots of things to stop the whining but he just keeps on. if you punish him for it he cries louder , you try to feed him he puts his head down and whines, you tell him to go play with the toys he whines, he just wants to follow me around all day my 1 year old doesnt get held all day and she plays by herself alot. i just dont know what to do i feel like he needs real help but like i said i have a one year old and im seven months pregnant i cant devote all my time to him. to me this is a matter his father needs to handle o the little boy will continue to suffer cuz noone understands him.

I have 2 baby girls- One who is 2 1/2 and one that is 10 months. When I started this new job about 3 months ago, I started making more money and put them in daycare (well, it's a lady who has 2 kids- one that's home during the day, and then my 2 and that's all she has.) Until now, it's either been my mother or my aunt that has kept them for me. So, in a way, I could just be paranoid and overprotective... because this lady is not someone I know REALLY well. My two year old is by biggest concern... when I fix her dinner at night, she'll eat more than I will.. and the babysitter says that she won't eat anything for her. My mom went to her house to take my youngest diapers one day and the babysitter was asleep on the couch while her 12 year old brother watched the kids, and the babysitter says that my 2 year old will not play, go outside, or anything while she's there... which is NOT at all my daughter!! So, is she being mistreated while she's there, just shy, what?!

Can anyone offer any advice please. My little boy has just started nursery & on many occasions has come home in rather a mess. I would like some advice as I am affraid to ask at the school as they stipulated that all kids had to be fully toilet trained before they started there.
Any tips please?
A big thank you in advance Nat xxx.
