I don't usually do this but...

Set up a routine: at 10:00 AM we do this; at 10:30 AM we do the next thing, and so forth. Be creative. Mix indoors with outdoors if you can. Simply playing with other kids is great. Not only does it take up lots of otherwise alone time, it's great for socialisation. Also, ensure meals, and bathroom, and bedtime occur at regular hours. Children need structure in their lives and ordering their day will help give it to them. It also gives you structure, and lets you substitute activities in and out as likes and dislikes develop.

Such is the life of all parents with youngsters. Good luck.

I don't have a car during the day either, my daughter is 2 also. This is what we do. We take a daily walks to the park, play in the backyard (sandbox, slide, water table). We listen to music and dance around. THe most important thing is to let him have his space and he will learn how to entertain himself. I had to learn this myself. I do crossword puzzles or read a magazine while she's playing and she's less bored that way because if we are playing 24-7 together, she never gets time to discover stuff on her own. Being bored is good so that they can get creative!

Your youngster is simply more intelligent than the average child, however don't let him get over these phases way too soon, in the end it will be a lot of work, when you get a chance buy him or her some small projects that come in a box, the stuff they sell at the Discovery store, for kids, you'll be amazed at the stuff you'll find there for your little one. Just need to get creative. Find websites for recreational and educational activities K-6 google it. You can also find lots of ideas/products on ebay
Good luck!

I just have Maya do everything I am doing. If I am cleaning the windows I give her a wet cloth and she cleans with me, if I am washing dishes, she gets on a stool and does it too. Pretty much everything I do, she does. All they really need is you and your attention. I know it gets boring inside, but when I can't stand it anymore and don't have anywhere to go, we turn on music and dance. She gets kind wild with the dancing so afterward we do something calming, like folding laundry. Sure, a two year old can't really fold anything, but they like to try. Yes you may have to refold all your towels, but it is worth it every time (and much less messy then paints)

Check with the Parks and Recreation department in your city or one close by. They may have free or lowcost programs that you can enroll your son in. If you have a library near they often have free programs available. Check your local city paper for activities, concerts, etc. that are free for residents in your area. Most cities/towns have parades, art shows, etc. that would be fun for a little one. Check out your school district to see if they have any programs for 2 year olds, such as safety town, early education, etc.

The more you ask around and check around the more you will find to do with your son.

Good luck.

Some places you could play online with him -

http://www.lego.com/

http://www.nickjr.com/

http://pbskids.org/

http://disney.go.com/playhouse/today/index.html

A lot of those sites have craft ideas and printable coloring pages too.

Make some puppets out of old socks.
Take a walk around the neighborhood.
Make a tent out of an old sheet or blanket and some chairs or a table.
Let him "wash" plastic dishes in the sink.
Let him help you cook or fold laundry. (Folding laundry is GREAT....they can learn colors, matching one to one, tons of math skills!)
Sing some songs together or put on some music and dance.
Gather up all the pillows in the house and build a "fort" in your living room floor.
Build with blocks.
Put pillows end to end on the floor to make a train track and the two of you pretend to be the trains.

Go to the nearest park or Playground and a 2 year old can amuse himself for hours while momy enjoys the serenety of a park bench

Huh? Two year olds are ALWAYS messy! Why not get him out of the house (go for a walk) to a local park or playground where he might meet some other kids. Are there none in your neighborhood? He needs some kids his own age with whom to interact.

2 year olds are boring in relationship to adult interest and skills. Every moment you spend w/ your son is an extra treat for him. He'll find his own activity, but having a mother as his activity director will naturally wear you out. How about letting him play by himself for 2 hrs. out of every 3. Give yourself permission for self care.

Saucepans and wooden spoons.
Noisy, but lots of fun!

Look for internet recipes for play dough, make some, and see what he makes for you.

Just walk around your neighbourhood, look for signs of autumn- see the CBeebies website, www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies

If the weather is anything like it is here, put his wellies and let him go jump in puddles in your garden.

These are a few suggestions.
Good luck, sweetie!
