this is quite normal, I know of a few kids who were potty trained during the day but still in a nappy at night. Encourage him to go to the toilet before you put him to bed, he will get there, kids do things in their own time =). Just make sure you praise him big time when he does stay dry all night and also dont make a big fuss if he doesnt. I started a reward chart for my girl and when she had 7 sitckers she got to choose a prize. Good luck.

He may not be ready yet. I know it is awful to hear but it might be true. But first you should rule out any medical problem preventing the whole potty training process to completion. Does he stay dry during naps? (if he takes them) If so, usually it means they are ready to potty train. Put him in whatever he wears during the day (if pull ups, etc) or in a nighttime type underwear (Good Nights, etc) so he doesn't rely on the diaper.

Also, no fluids a couple hours before bed and make sure he sits on the toilet before going to his bedroom. 1st thing in the morning is the potty too.

He may wet a few times but if he has a nighttime underwear on it won't absorb as fast as diapers and he will be more likely to wake up and learn to wake up in the future and use the toilet.

Good luck!

Ask him to go to toilet before go to bed. then wake him up for toilet every 2-3 hours.
After 2 weeks, only wake him up every 3-4 hour
and next, wake up only once per night.
once he get use to the rountine, he will not need to wear nappy anymore.

boys are harder to get out of nappies than girls. and often boys have problems with bed wetting more commonly than girls.
do not worry to much about this problem now, as long as he is out of nappies in the day time that is what matters most.
you have to have seven dry nappies in a row before you can say they are dry at night.
try taking him to the toilet as you are going to bed, making sure he has a wee, i know its not nice waking him up but just try and carry him to the toilet and sitting him on it, every night before you go to bed. this should help, good luck

i got my youngest potty trained for day, and still in diapers at night. Then I said to myself, why? I get them ready for bed, had them sit on the potty, then go to bed. Then 3 hours after they go to sleep, have them get up and sit on the potty, and then do this again 3 hours before they normally wake up. According to pediatrician, this is when nighttime accidents usually occur. I was doing this with twins which actually made it easier. Anyways keep this routine up. Leave a lighted passage to the bathroom and a bright night light in the bathroom, or leave the light on. Either your little man will start waking up on his own, or will start getting up in the morning to go potty. And when he wakes up dry, give him lots of praise. And if this doesn't work, sometimes parts of our bodies aren't fully developed and the brain won't sense these kinds of things at night. And there are meds for that, but at 4 yrs old that is a little young to determine if it is a medical issue.

I had to take my 6 year old to the doctor and her suggestion to me was they can drink all they want to until 3 o'clock and then no more until 6 o'clock where they are only aloud 4 ozs with there dinner and no more to drink not even a bed time drink. I swear it works when we did that my daughter never wet the bed now her body is use to things and she can drink as much as she wants whenever she wants. They also suggest no sodas, red dye like red koolaid, or choclate while you are doing this.
