Has your little girl ever seen a boy pee? Has your son ever seen a girl pee? If they started asking questions, how did you address them?

My 8-year-old son doesn't like when we look after him all the time.He wants to have some time alone at home.He has some friends from Europe(they are his age) and they are usually left alone at home and explain that it's something normal for children above 5 years and usually nothing bad happens to anyone.I consider letting him 2-3 hours at home alone every day but what should we tell him for his safety?

My daughter is 5 years old.She is a very mature girl for her age.She understands what I say her and has her own opinion which she can substantiate.I mean she isn't a phlegmatic child as most 4-5-year-olds in usa are. So,I need to know what should I tell her to do and not to do while I'm at work and she is at home(usually 5 hours after school). We have a lock on the door and she knows how to use it.What rules should I ask her to follow?

My six year old son has an unknown disorder. Basically, he is mentally only about 3 or 4. He is in kindergarten with other special needs kids. Because he has few outward physical symptoms, my husband and I have been slow to accept that his condition is permanent and that he will never be a "normal" child.

Yesterday he won a gold metal in the Special Olympics. Don't hate me, but I was crushed. I cheered him on, don't get me wrong, but inside it felt like the whole event was pushing me harder to accept the reality that I have been trying to avoid.

My sister has a 10 month old son and recently boasted on her blog about how he is already walking and how he will be an Olympian someday (not knowing about my son's medal, just coincidence). I was further hurt. I just can't stop crying. Does it ever get better? What can I do to get past this?

A child makes a nasty comment to a parent. The parent gets angry and slaps the child so hard the childs nose bleeds. What do you think this parent needs to do about this situation? We need rational comments like counseling, anger management, medication that sort of thing.

Lets not talk about things like leting someone beat the crap out of the parent that sort fo stuff. We will assume that this is a parent who really does love the child despite what the slap seems to say . Lets talk abou real useful solutions to this problem. Solutions people could actually use.

also in front of His family. We were invited to his aunt house and our 7 year old, called his aunt "shut up *****" and gave her a little smack, because she told her to wash her hands like 3 times.I was in Shock,i pop her mouth,BUT my husband bust her butt,I GOT SO MAD,since he never did it before, neither did i.Obviously, i told him to stop, probably he felt humilliated, and told me to never take his authority off.HE gave her like 3 slaps, but i got mad, because we never done that before. Now,he's mad at me, how can i fix it.
His aunt is a sweet older lady, my daughter learned that language from neighbors. This situation happened yesterday, his also mad, because he said i had a Stern look the whole time at his aunt house. What can i do ? my daughter did said sorry, BUT now i'm embarrassed to go back. What do u advise ??? Was he right or wrong ? She was told before ,of the consequences of bad language. Any advise ???????

I was driving around with my friend, we see this car ahead of us. In the rear window, there was a set of car stickers, that showed 5 stick figuers, and under the big two were Dad and Mom, next to that was Billy, Sally, and Wendy.

I remarked to my friend how odd that after parenthood, you would rather go by Dad than the name you had before. Later, we saw another car, with another stick figuer family on the rear window, this time the two big figuered were Mario and Linda, and the other figuers joey (small case) and mickey (small case).

Right now I just thought back and it made me wonder... do people really change after having kids? and, thier preferred identity? and, this is really terrible of me, I know... but, I just couldn't help but view the parents in the second family car as somehow less mature, less, into parenthood. Everyone has a right to be who they are, so my second question is: can I still be me and be a good parent?

me: no kids right now, but I work with them often,

the conservative people are say that children need a mother and a father. But what about all theose kids who's father left their mother or their mother left their father; or what if their mother or father died wouldn't it be the same thing? what about children who's parents abuse them or don't give them the love or attention that they need? Is'nt true that all children need is love? Dose anybody feel this way?

If you live in either Nanaimo, Comox, Cortenay or Campbell River, are these good places to raise kids?
I live in Edmonton and I cannot stand this city, I moved there from Ontario and now I want to move to BC, because it is so pretty and smells fresher.
But I also need to know if its good for kids too.

Either by acting like a brat, ashing his head into the floor or walls and then saying 'oww", he'll even take his power wheels escallade and flip it over to make it look like he was in an accident and say "oww, momma", he has this tendancy to hurt himself to get my attention...WHY???

Actually, I'm not asking in regards to issues with a child wasting energy - I'm asking in regards to a really wasteful childish ROOMMATE! She is always leaving lights on all night, TVs on all night, and most annoyingly - turning the thermostat from "auto" to "on" so it runs 24/7! She is so incredibly wasteful with energy that I'm about to go crazy, and talking to her about it hasn't shown any improvements - infact, I think she's getting worse as a way to get back at me.

So, have any parents used timers on the lights, or a certain way to shut the energy off, or a certain tamper-proof thermostat that they could recommend to me? I'm so sick of paying a $200 utility bill for such a small apartment, I could just puke. I'm desperate for a solution. I'm going out of town in a few days for a whole month, and I'm terrified of how high the utility bill will be without me being around to shut lights and TVs off for her.

My husband and I don't celebrate Christmas. He thinks its too commercial, and I think I shouldn't celebrate a "religious" holiday that I am not affiliated with. I don't celebrate Hanukkah just because, why Christmas? Anyway, our families are slightly annoyed that we aren't celebrating, but they have dealt with it. The question we keep getting is "But you are going to celebrate it once you have kids, right?" Do you think it is bad for a child not to celebrate a holiday when everyone around them is? I know that Christmas is becoming very secular, but even taking away the religious aspect, my husband would still not like the gross commercialization. Any thought? Thanks.

Weren't you surprised when your kids were born how much you love them. When i married my wife i felt like i would never love anyone as much as i love her. Then i got my daughter. I still love my wife but the love for my child just surprised me how much you love and want to be with them. Is it just me.

Why are parents trying to suck the fun out of everything? Isn't it a good thing to let your children have an imagination? Isn't Santa a symbol for Christmas. He stands for love and giving. What is so horrible about that. Can't we just let children be children for a while. Why are parent's trying to make their kids grow up so fast? What ever happened to some good old fashioned playing?

I do believe.....I do believe....I do believe...... Merry Christmas everyone.

I'm 17 years old & right now, the car I'm really looking at is $7000 dollars. It's a efficient & gets great gas mileage...anyway, that's not the point...um, I honestly haven't asked for much from my parents & I really want this car. I know I'll pay for some of it; (I babysit a lot, this past summer alone I made $700 off of babysitting), & they want me to pay for half. I don't think I can pull off $3500, especially when there's going to be tax as well, and I'm busy buying other things for myself...hanging out w/ my friends, getting some clothes...I'm a good student! I take AP Classes & I get a lot of homework, but I still can't ever turn a babysitting gig down; I babysit at least 5 days a week. It gets hard, but I really am working hard for this car & yet I still don't think I'll be able to hit $3500. Is there anyway to convince them to kind of just BUY it for me? I know that sounds selfish, but I'm making what I can, & now school's getting in the way of reaching any goal amount...
