My mom and I are at each other's throats. She says EXTREMELY hurtful things to me (like if people really close to me drown in a creek that she wouldn't send flowers and she wouldn't attend the funeral and that she hates them and wishes that would happen to them) and then when I bring them up in the middle of a fight she denies them and makes me feel like I'm going insane. I want to move out of my house and in with my dad, my parents split up about 6 years ago and my dad lost visitation rights. Since then, however, he has gone through counseling and really gotten his act together, we have recently reconnected and started to bond again and I think I would be much more stable living there. I don't want to get my dad in trouble but I can't stay here with my mom mentally abusing me like this. (My mom and I have also been in a physical confrontation but neither of us 'started' it) I want out, please help.

Well I have a three year old and we got her a hamster a year ago and it died last night. Do I tell her that it died or go out and get a new one so she does not know that it died? I am not sure if it is to soon to tell her about death. No a round her has died or anything like this, or is this a good way to teacher her about death. Serous answers only.

If you’re a mother would you take your son and if you’re a father, then your daughter? Assuming all children are of legal age to go. I know two separate families who are fine with this. They’re families that are very open about nakedness, sexuality, and intimacy. The kind of family where the son is able to talk to his mother about most anything.

I'm 15.Both of my parents work. After I was 2,my parents sent me to daycare(all-day) and when they came back from work, they took me at home. When I was 6 I went to school. It was half-day.After school I came back home and I spent 6 hours alone at home. Many people may consider that their children will do the most stupid things while they are at home alone and they don't want to leave them.Let me clear what's in their mind. When I was 6,my parents didn't have a lot of rules for me.I came home after school and went in the kitchen to eat a sandwich(made from mom in the morning). Then I went in my room and started to write my homeworks. After that I turned on the TV and watched my favourite TV-show.And then I read a book or played cards while mom and dad come home.I spent like this all my life after the age of 5 and I think if something bad should have happened,it would have happened.Children don't seek dangerous situacions. They seek happiness. Why do you think they WILL get in trouble?

I have a son(age 7) and a daughter(age 6).They share one room and one wardrobe. The boy likes to wear girl's clothes. He wears her dresses, skirts and hats and he pretends to be a girl.CPS already look at me with suspicion when we go out for a walk. His father takes him to matches and places where a lot of men come and there are a lot of boys' toys in the house but anyway my son keeps playing with his sister's dolls. We pay attention to both of them with nobody left alone and he doesn't have a reason to try to seek attention. That concerns me.I don't want to take him to psychologist cause it may stress and scare him but I don't want to have problems with CPS.Does anyone else have such a problem and how can I cope with that?

My next-door neighbors take their 2-year old son on the riding mower with them every time they mow the lawn. I see this as very dangerous, as they hold him with one arm and steer and control speed with the other. When they do it I cringe. Should I video tape or photograph and send it to child services? Or do I just mind my own business???

I have twin-daughters,age 4.I have a golleague (Andrea, age 29).She lives with a 16-year-old girl(Sandra,an orphan, they are best friends and that's why they live together). My wife died after the twins' first birthday.Andrea and Sandra come together to work in summer and I take the twins too, because there is a daycare at work.Sandra is a very nice girl, she loves the twins and spends all the time with them while I(and Andrea) work.Recently when I spank the twins(for bad behavior) they scream and say they want to be with Sandra. They behave like angls when they are with Sandy. She treats them with some 'positive discipline',I know nothing about(just know there is no spanking in it),but it seems there is an effect. But I treat them with usual methods, like spanking.Recently they love Sandra more than me and want to live with her.She told me 'don't worry, that will pass' but I'm not sure. What do you think?Should I try positive discipline(there is a book about it,Sandra has it)?

I keep on hearing on this website people put their infant or children to bed at like 9-10! I can't believe that--there isn't anything wrong with it but I just couldn't imagine. If your kids are going to bed that late, what time do you go to bed? Why do you put them to bed that late in the evening? When to you and your significant other get a chance to breathe? I'm just curious because my son goes to bed at 8:30--no matter what. My husband and I go to bed at 10, which gives us a good hour and a half to spend time together or focus on ourselves for a while.

I was raped and abused by my childs father. The baby isnt born yet but I'm curious at what age is the best to try to explain what happened and why he's in jail. He's facing 30-40 years in jail, so he wont be there at all. She will only know him through pictures and letters. And is it ok to allow him to write to her once she can read and respond to them??

Okay, they were all in the same class last year and got along fine. But they never once came over all summer to ask my daughter to play. When school started they both said they were on exotic, lavish vacations when in fact, I saw both of them around all summer. Now, they come over often to ask my daughter to play, and she's always happy to see them. But they all go out and my daughter comes home 5 minutes later because the other two said they forgot it was time for them to go home. I've told my daughter they are playing games and it isn't funny. I've asked these girls not to knock on our door, but they insist on coming back. I don't know who the mothers are. The teacher says he cannot give out that kind of personal info. Why do kids have to be this way? At what point can I get other authorities involved? Would it be inappropriate to get REALLY angry the next time they come back? I think putting a good scare into them might make them back off my kid. Is that a bad idea? Thanks mates!

my child was extremely unhappy in the school i had put him in, so i changed him to a new school he is my little boy again doesnt cry all the time is interested in sports again, i felt i didnt give him time to settle in his new school as he was only there for 2 weeks but on day one his teacher gave the kids sweets for being so good on there first day and because my child was playing with his school bag he got none this really upset him and us too, as we disagree with this type of punishment for any child, but from there the trouble started, he had two years of playschool before this and done really well never had trouble with him. im not saying my child is a saint he can be a bit hyper at times but he is a good kid. i just felt that if it is like this in the first weeks of school that it would keep going, i just want my kids to be the happiest they can be because i had a not great chilhood, they are not spoilt just loved. he is a lot happier now, what do u think?

I'm trying to make up a job/chore list for my daughters so they can earn some pocket money and help out around the house. There are plenty of jobs that my 10 year old can do but I can't think of anything my 8 year old could do.

I want them doing jobs seperately as my youngest can be very lazy and my eldest will end up doing all the work.

Does anyone have any suggestions??
