I keep on hearing on this website people put their infant or children to bed at like 9-10! I can't believe that--there isn't anything wrong with it but I just couldn't imagine. If your kids are going to bed that late, what time do you go to bed? Why do you put them to bed that late in the evening? When to you and your significant other get a chance to breathe? I'm just curious because my son goes to bed at 8:30--no matter what. My husband and I go to bed at 10, which gives us a good hour and a half to spend time together or focus on ourselves for a while.

FOIRE--very mature--let's go get the other person back on his/her question. What person asks a question about sex--unprotected sex, then says could I be pregnant? If this were a true question--and you would have already been pregnant--you would say, "Oh, unprotected sex is like--umm, bad. And, umm, I shouldn't do it. Oh--since I had, umm, unprotected sex before and that resulted in pregnancy--umm, this could possibly too." And you'd take your little lying butt to Wal-Mart and get a HPT.

And please don't call me sweetie. Obviously, I should be talking down to you if you really are that dense not to know--unprotected sex leads to pregnancy in most cases. Therefore, (like I said before) you should stop asking questions, that you know the answers to, and go get a test.

8:00 p.m. There's no way I'd allow them to stay up till 10! Like you, my husband and I enjoy having "our" time once the little ones are tucked away.

Before I had my daughter I thought late bedtimes for children were appalling, but my 2 year old daughter WILL NOT reliably sleep longer than about 8 hours at night, then takes a 2 hour nap in the day. After some months of trying to stick to an 8 p. m. bedtime, I got tired of getting up at 4 a. m. and finally "broke." Now her bedtime is about 9:30 p. m. and she gets up anywhere between 5:30 and 6:30 a. m.

My husband and I are night owls, so if she goes to bed at that time we still have a couple of hours to dawdle around and have adult time.

I have 2 children, 6 and 8. My oldest goes to bed at 8:30 and youngest goes to bed at 8:00. On weekends I am not too concerned about bed time as long as it isn't later than 10:00. I do need my time too. My husband and I go to bed whenever we get a chance to. He works crazy hrs. (recruiter) and is never home at the same time. I do try to allow my girls to stay up on Sat. to be able to see him. They are in bed by the time he gets home during the week.

8 was bedtime for my boys from age 3 - 9.
My sis had her kids go to bed at 10 from the age of 2 and it worked fine for all of them and my sis-in-law didn't have set bedtimes and that worked fine for them.

I think bedtime is something that has to be geared to the flow of your family and the needs of your children. My guys were always very active all day and when 8 came around, they were more than ready for bed. Their rooms don't have stimulants (no tv or video games in there) so they tended to read for 1/2 an hour and then they'd be out like a light. My sister's kids weren't nearly as active and they didn't seem to need as much sleep.

I have to agree with you though... couldn't imagine not having those few hours to myself when the boys were young *lol*... my husband and I got more done between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. when we'd go to bed than we did the whole rest of the day.

7:30 - 8:00 and hubby and I go to bed around 11:00.

I think some people let their kids stay up later b/c they may not get home until after 5 or 6, by the time they've prepped dinner and eaten it's already 7 and there's no time for homework, bath, play, reading or any other quality time so they let the kids stay up.

I have an 8 yr old boy, a 4 yr old girl, and a 2 yr old son. My oldest goes to be at 8:30pm on week days. My 4 yr old and 2 yr old go to bed at 8pm. On week ends, it's 9pm for the 8 yr old and 8:30pm for the 4 and 2 yr old. That's also during the school year and all . During the summer the older two get to stay up until 9:30pm and the baby goes to bed at 8:30pm.
God Bless!

my son is almost 2 and he goes to bed at 9 PM and is up at 7 AM. Plus his 2 hr nap during the day. He used to go to bed earlier but as he's grown his sleep habits have changed. It also depends on daylight savings time. I don't consider 9 PM "late" per se, but that's me. I work at a restaurant and what gets me is people bringing their young children in 9 PM or later to eat. Atleast my child is home winding down from the day. A friend of mine has a daughter just younger than mine and their sleep habits are VASTLY different from ours. Their daugher takes a nap at 5 or 6 pm and doesn't go to bed until 10 or later. Where I don't agree with it, it is how they choose to care for their child. 9 PM is early enough for me to breathe as well as be able to spend quality time with my child.
