Parents who weren't afraid to put there children over there knee?

I like the show, so do my girls, but just for the entertainment factor. I have watched parents say they tried spanking, I have seen some weak attempts of spanking ( a light swat to the rear ) But never anything that would actually alter the behavior of these kids. I have never seen a mom or dad take one of these horrid children to a private area, lower there pants, put them over there knee and spank them. Has anyone else? I am not suggesting that people beat there children (leaving bruises, welts, other marks) but a good old fashioned spanking never hurt any of us. If you haven't seen the show, watch it, kids spitting in there parents face, punching there parents face, cussing at everyone, and much, much more.

Granted I am not saying that's the only problem with these kids, they get little love and zero discipline. Most of these parents have just given up (very sad).

This is a question for the people who favor physical punishment of kids. You always try to justify this by saying your kids will do "horrible things" or something similar if you don't.... Can you tell me exactly what are these "horrible things" that children can do? I mean, yeah they make mistakes, they do things wrong, but why do you speak of them as if they were little monsters or criminals? Please give me examples of what are these terrible crimes that children can commit for which you think they should get punished this way?
And do you really think that all the children who don't get spanked become criminals? I mean you should know enough examples that it's not so. Or do you think it is a desaster if your child develops a sense of critical thinking, makes up his own mind, takes his own decisions... ??

I have a 6 yr old and a 3 yr old. I am very stern on them not playing in the street or crossing the street without an adult. I also dont let them play in the front yard unless I or my husband is out there working on the yard or doing something to atleast keep an eye on them at the same time. I see other kids 5 yrs old playing in the street and some 3 yr olds running around freely throught the neighborhood. So, it gets me wondering if I am too paranoid and if I am keeping my children from being normal. I do know that there is a registered sex offender living in the neighborhood and that is something I worry about too.

I am pregnant and single and loving it! I am totally focused on this baby right now, but I can't help but wonder if I'll ever find a man now. Either pregnant or later with a new baby. Do men want a girl with someone else's baby?

My four-year-old boy and five-year-old girl find the same toys to fight over. I'm usually not in the room, so I don't know who had the toy first. Usually, I just take it away from the both of them. But is there any way to solve the conflict more effectively?

I'm needing to know what would be the best course of action to take with this young girl to ensure that I have legal rights to the child that she can't come back say one to three years down the road and say "oh, I wnat my child back" after I have emotions not to mention finincal ties to the child. That is the reason I'm asking about Relinguishing parental rights. I still want the mother to know the progress of the child but I will be the child mother and I will have legal rights to the child.

One of my coworkers just got married about a month ago. Her husband has a 10 yr. old daughter and the bio-mom sent this letter to my coworker (the stepmom). I thought it was so funny, I got a copy of it.
"Since you have married Mike, you are now Ashley's stepmother and I feel that if we are to have a friendly relationship, we need to establish some groundrules, as far as your involvement with Ashley goes.
1) Mike and I are Ashleys parents. You are not her mother, you are her stepmother. Even when she is in your home, I am still her parent, and I expect you to not go against my wishes and rights as her mother.
2) Mike is to be the person to set down rules and punishments. He is to be the one to make decisions concerning Ashley.
3) Ashley is not allowed to do or have the following while at your home: her hair cut, ears pierced, no makeup PERIOD!, unacceptable clothing, watch movies over G rating.
I believe that if these rules are followed, we will have no problems in the future."

I do not work and we just do things when we feel like it, and my mom thinks we should have a schedule. At the age to 10 months how do you try to start a schedule now? or is this the best time? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I said when I was pregnant with my daughter that I was not going to let her get into the habit of sleeping with me. When she was a newborn, she slept in a bassinate beside my bed. At about 6 months I started her in her crib in her room, but I was constantly getting up to check and make sure she was still breathing, so if she woke up, I would rock her to sleep or put her in bed next to me. I am a real light sleeper, so I didn't worry that I would lay on her or anything. As she got older she started sleeping in her bed all night, but she got into the habit of needing the tv on to go to sleep or getting out and getting in bed with my son. Or she will cry and ask me "I sleep with you mama?" I really don't mind if she gets in bed with me most nights, but my husband hates it cause he says she kicks and pinches him all night in her sleep. He gets mad at me if I let her, but I have gotten so used to her being in my bed that it worries me when she isn't. How do you handle this subject?

my husband and I's bed from infantcy. They would sleep half in bed with us and half in their crib beside out bed. They always slept better nest to me and it was easier to hear and feel their cues of hunger or such. I mean these little beings just came out of our bodies and we have to put them in a cold crib away from out beating hearts, it's no wonder babies get colic. I was just curious how many other parents did this. When my babies were ten months they started to sleep in their cribs all the time and in their own rooms. But I believe they needed that time next to me for bonding and growth. I believe that babies and children that get alot of personal contact grow better than those that are not frequently handled. Anyone else?

I was lucky to be able to stay at home with my daughter till she was 9 months old, however financially we just couldn't survive anymore on just my husbands income, so I went back to work. I am a dental assistant and I am lucky that I am off every weekend and sometimes days during the week. I still feel guilty everyday to leave my daughter at her babysitters, but I have to work or we would end up on welfare. I have nothing against SAHM, in fact I am kinda jelous that they get to be with their kids more than I can. I am just curious if SAHM have the same respect for working moms that I have for them?

between one and two. I have two girls, three years and ten months. I have been wrestling with the idea of wanting to have another child. We can afford another kid and my husband wants one. But I know that when our family went from one child to two it was a huge difference. Is it the same with two to three? Or after you get past the first addition it seems like a cake walk?
