Parents who weren't afraid to put there children over there knee?
I like the show, so do my girls, but just for the entertainment factor. I have watched parents say they tried spanking, I have seen some weak attempts of spanking ( a light swat to the rear ) But never anything that would actually alter the behavior of these kids. I have never seen a mom or dad take one of these horrid children to a private area, lower there pants, put them over there knee and spank them. Has anyone else? I am not suggesting that people beat there children (leaving bruises, welts, other marks) but a good old fashioned spanking never hurt any of us. If you haven't seen the show, watch it, kids spitting in there parents face, punching there parents face, cussing at everyone, and much, much more.
Granted I am not saying that's the only problem with these kids, they get little love and zero discipline. Most of these parents have just given up (very sad).

You have to remember it's not the kids faults, it's the parents faults for being weak and letting their kids run their lives. The kids just live by example. Most of the parents on these shows from what I notice don't get along anyhow, they have no relationship besides living together, aren't on the same page parenting and don't respect eachother in any way shape or form and the kids pick up on this. Some people think children are pretty dumb when infact they are pretty darn smart for their ages. We as the parents are supposed to be the ones who place boundaries and consequences for our little ones, we are the ones who are supposed to teach them how to get along in life. Most of these kids are going to be shocked to get fired from a job the first time that they decide throwing an adult temper tantrum is gong to work with their boss like it did with their parents. I believe in the old school ways, showing the kids exactly how fair life is, and that's not very!
You're kid isn't always going to get invited to every birthday party, just like we aren't invited to every party in life. Some people will work harder and receive more than others in life. Bad descisions will ultimately have consequences that follow, just the same as making good choices will have good consequences. Not everyone looks like Barbie or the Bratz! ....teach them to have some sort of personality and notice people from the inside out. Teach them the golden rule. Teach them it's not really "all about you" and sometimes it's somebody elses turn to shine and to share the spotlight and give kudos where and when it's deserved.
I agree with you, sometimes it's necessary to put your kid over your knee. I have a child whom I love very dearly who it seems that is the only thing that really gets through to her and I'm glad we do it because if we didn't she'd be a complete horror. I used to watch the Nanny shows, but it just became too frusterating and then you wonder if those famillies gave up because it was too hard after she left, because raising kids isn't easy and it takes alot of patience and consistancy.

I've only caught a couple episodes of these various shows. I've never seen the ones where the kids were as bad as cussing and spitting at their parents. Anyway...who knows, maybe these parents have given these kids a "real" spanking, they just don't want to show that on TV. I mean really...would you want to be depicted as the parent who uses spankings? Especially the way these TV shows twist things up so they don't even resemble anything that truly happens.

You must not have seen the one where the mother was overbearing and manhandling her kids? Don't remember if she beat on them, but she was a pretty nasty creature.
Given up- like the show I saw last where the rotten little buggers were running the house and deciding when to go to bed? Some of the parents I've seen on that show could use a good upside the head, but I'm not a violent person. Maybe a nice cold bucket of water?

I like Super Nanny, however some of her methods are really not for me- time out just doesnt seem to work. On the otherhand when she tells parents to spend quality time with their kids and not just yell at them I wholeheartedly agree. About the spanking I agree sometimes a kid just needs a smack on the bottom to pull them into line. A smack is instant stops a naughty child in their tracks I was smacked not too often just when needed and theres nothing wrong with me.My kids get a smack too when the constant "stop it" doesnt work. And I'm sure millions and millions of other kids all over the world do to.

Reading the e book instead of enjoying the movie is the ultimate way to see what the writer expected. Reading uses your creativeness, hones your reading skills, and can make your vocabulary

Most of those kids are so far gone, I doubt that would have any effect on them. I know my husband would beat the tar out of our future kids if they ever hit/spit/kicked/swore at me. And that's how it should be!

Anyone that is willing to put there family on television to get help with there kids is desperate. These kids are awful but I think that Nanny shows us that there are other ways to punish kids then spanking that works.
