Our daughter is 5 months. She would ONLY sleep in her cradle swing. Dr said it was ok, but we knew she couldnt sleep in it forever. We slowly transitioned her to the point where she was ready for the crib. 1st night was bad-she finally went down after 5 hours & slept only 6 hours in the 24 hour day (13 is usual!)The next night it took 4 hours to get her to sleep & she awoke at 3am & did not want to go back to the crib. I didnt want to put her back in the swing, because I thought that would make the transition more confusing & harder & cause more tears in the long run. I knew that if I went in there and picked her up, she would be up for the rest of the day on 5 hrs sleep and she was already lethargic from being sleep deprived. I knew she needed to sleep so her little body wouldnt go through exhaustion. Going in and soothing makes her cry worse, so I couldnt. She cried for 30 min & slept-hasnt had a problem since. But I feel guilty for not answering her cries.Did I do the right thing?

My 4 yr old boy is awful. I am so stressed out right now. He says things like "you ruined my life", "you're the worst mom ever", etc. His mouth is worse than most teens! (He doesn't swear though) He cannot control his anger and I don't know how to get someone so young on the right track. I don't know where he gets this from, no one in our family acts or talks like that. He hits me and his younger brother when he gets really worked up. Usually children are afraid of their dad's, not him. He's not scared of anything! He hits things, slams doors and screams til he's blue in the face. He does this everywhere, even in the grocery store. I am embarrassed to have anyone over to my house or go to the store. I have tried time outs, spanking, taking things away, making him do chores and more. Nothing stops him. When I brought it up to his doctor he blew me off so I can't get help there. Any advice would be SO appreciated! Thanks all!

My son is four years old and I was thinking that I wouldn't work until he starts school so that he wouldn't be passed from sitter to sitter while I was at work. What are the pros and cons of this? (His dad is away working and going to school.... so he can't help with the everyday stuff)

My husband and I are newlyweds, but we are thinking about children in a few years. We both want to have 3 children of our own and adopt one. I want to adopt a preteen, he wants to adopt an infant. My thing is that I want to take a child out of a bad situation and show them what love is and how life should be. He wants to raise a child as our own and tell him/her that they are adopted when they are old enough.

Does anyone have some pros and cons about either way?

I work in a primary school and 2 children in the class I work in have been told they can't go on a school trip because of their special needs and the trip isn't appropriate for them. I'm really pissed off about it because the teachers within the year group I feel should have picked a trip appropriate for them rather then telling them they can't go. I didn't have any say in it as I'm just an assistant to one of the children. I'm now organising something off my own back for them since I can't believe whats happened. As a parent how would you feel if this was your child? I think the parents of these children have been really accepting of it, I don't have children but if this was my child I'd be phoning the local newspaper up telling my story... maybe I'm just over reacting! They are 7 and 9 years old

My daughter just turned nine and is about to start her period. She has been complaining of her back hurting and more recently of her stomach as well. The moods swings have become unbearable. We have talked about this and I bought her the best book about how her body is changing. She's just too young! Anybody else dealing with this? Advice?

My husband is always worried that he is being to mean or hard on our daughter. For he is always worried that when he punishes her that he is hurting her because she cried. I tell him that he isn't doing anything wrong its just normal for them to cry because they don't like to get punished. What can I do to make my husband feel more comfortable about punishing our daughter?
