Okay, if you're serious, you should try and get like 1,000 signatures on a petition with addresses and all along with money. Money, as in financial sponsors, to help influence your local congressman. Then, if you have all of those things, you might actually have a chance of influencing him to look at a bill you want to propose. You should also think of good reasons why children must go to school 10 hours a day. That's what you need.

I have to say I am with the majority answering here. I hate the few hours my kids are in school now. I look forward to them getting home. I truly am interested in your reasoning for wanting longer school hours. The average adult only works for 8 hours a day , why would expect 2 more hours out of your children to be at school? If you think they need more time towards education give them projects to do at home and work with them yourself. You would be amazed at the satisfaction you get knowing you taught them that. In my opinion school these days give too much homework as it is, it all takes away from our family time and that is unfair to us.And then society wonders what happened to family values, when is there time for that anymore? Where I live they even give "summer homework" for the children to do and that truly interferes with my time with them. And I do not mean a summer reading list or something , which I can agree with, I encourage reading with my children, but actual homework that has to be turned in on their returning to school in the fall. Please reconsider this, for yourself and your family.

Most kids don't have the attention span for that. Besides they need a certain amount of sleep to be able to learn. Working them that much will actually be counter productive.
Sounds to me like your just looking for a government sanctioned baby sitter. What's the matter? Accidentally get pregnant and now don't want the responsibility that comes with having sex? Grow up and be a parent for God's sake. Take some responsibility for yourself.

10 hours a day in a formal setting for any child is asking them way too much. Most adults can't even handle 10 hour work days.

I would think that anyone that would want their child in school for 60 hours a week is just looking for a free babysitter.

Personally I think that you should go to work 10 hrs a day, and 6 days a week...Do that for a few months, and then if you can handle it, go from there...But make sure it is something you can do before you try to make little kids do it.

Why do you want to make us children suffer more than we already do with grades and teachers? You just want to find more ways to keep your children (if u have any) from having any fun aren't you. The weekend is our time to rest from school and just have fun but, you are trying to ruin that aren't you? Parents don't spend enough time with their kids anyway. Most parents use Saturday and Sunday to spend time with their kids. Why would you want to take that away from them? You let me know when you find a 3 good reasons!

Why would you want kids to go to school that much? While I value education, I am in college myself, I would not want to put my kids through that b/c they would be less likely to continue their education after high school b/c they would have not time to do anything else.

Locking up your kids at school isn't going to make up for the fact you didn't want them in the first place.
