You get to try your skills on them and down the road you can see if what you did worked out right. In giving the love and care to a child you also get More back than most can imagine. The testy times let both of you learn coping skills and the satisfaction of success is unequaled by other events in life. Other than the youthful joy of sex the fulfillment you feel as they walk down the aisles to graduation and marriage has no equal. Then you get to enjoy the grandchildren.

Every day when you get out of bed, you know that you have the most perfect, adoring, sweet, and ornery adventures laying ahead of you for the day. What seems to be 20 hours later, you finally get to go back to bed briefly, and then you start to reflect on the activities and happiness that your kids bring. My youngest child, just left for boot camp. I am very proud of him and my other 2 kids, but my house is very empty and quiet. It all happened way too fast.

She grounds me. What I mean is that instead of being an irresponsible goofball like I used to be, I keep in mind with every decision that I make that my decision not only affects me, but her, as well. I never imagined I could love someone like I love her.

I love how my 3 year-old son cheers me up when I'm stressed or depressed. He comes up to me and asks if I'm okay, then gives me a hug and a pat on the back. It never fails.
