A friend of ours shared a safety report from mindfully.org (dated April 1999) which warns against using polycarbonate baby bottles (e.g. Dr. Brownes, Advent, Evenflo) as they can cause cancer. Apparently a chemical called bisphenol-A (also known as d BPA) can leach into the formula over time. We then did a little research and found an article from Money Magazine (Feb 07) which stated the same findings. However I cannot find anything on Consumer Reports to validate this issue or recommend which bottles to buy. Are my Dr. Brown bottles okay or should I be worried about this?

This girl was saying that her mom used to put "a little bit" of whiskey in a cp and rub it on her son's gums when he was teething, and that one day her dad "accidentally" gave him the whole capful of whiskey! "And the baby slept ALL night" (No s**t!) ¬.¬ And the people listening must've thought it was hilarious cause they started to laugh! I'm sorry, I don't think it's funny at all...

maybe someone could tell me why its bad to smoke while you have children? i quit smoking while i was pregnant but i'm having a hard time with it now that he's out. my dh still smokes (outside only) so he's no help at all. i've had two cigarettes outside but i'm worried if both dh and i are smoking we'll get lazy and start doing it in the house.

what are the health risks to my baby if we're smoking? maybe that will encourage me to not start this awful habit again.

10 months of age so I have just 2 more months to go)
Any tips? By now she only takes one bottle a day, at bedtime (I hold her, never put her in the crib with it) Because she's so active that I had to start giving her a sippy at 7 months.
So, how do I start the process of weaning (when time comes), if she only takes one bottle a day?
Thanks, I appreciate any tips.

My 10 month old won't stay still, and she throws in a big tantrum when I try to put her pj's on or change her diaper... She can't stand up on her own (yet), but she'll try to pull herself up with my shirt, or she rolls over... It's exasperating!!! >:^(

I had to stop breastfeeding to take a medicine, and it's been over a week since I last breastfed. and I really don't want to stop, but I'm afraid that I'm going to completely have to, because I can't get any milk, and I'm thinking my daughter definitely won't either. if my milk is gone, is there any way to get it back?

I have read that you can do any of the following three with bottle feeding and I was wondering which you use and why? I have heard you can feed the baby the bottle cold, room temp., or warm. I was interested in room temp to save the hassle of heating up bottles and for greater ease when in public.

my neice is 6 months and me and my family are trying to teach her how to crawl...

we put things in front of her that she loves to chew on or play with like soda cans, keys, remotes, basically anything to draw her attention that she reaches for.

shes pretty advanced. she is always screaming and saying ba! ba! ba! she can sit up by herself, hold her own bottle, and roll over. she can also reach and grab things.

she has the getting up on her knees down pack, just a couple of minutes ago i noticed she lifts one leg up. what can we do to help her? or will she just have to learn by herself?

she is kind of big for her age, but she SOO PRETTY and shes very active, so shes not a lazy baby AT ALL! sometimes we wish she was!

additional info - - sometimes her and my mom have screaming competitions. my mom will scream and shell scream and then shell get louder and louder until she chokes from her own spit, she is HILARIOUS.

I'd like to start my 6 month old son on solids but I dont want to give up breastfeeding completly. How do I go about doing this?

2007-03-13 14:49:08 · 11 answers · asked by Sheena 2

My daughter's just turned 6 months and we've given her pureed baby food a couple of times and she loves it - but I'm finding it hard to integrate solids into her bottle routine. She currently has 4 formula bottles of 240ml (8oz) a day - when and how often do I now include her baby food? And how much baby food each time? Do I cut her bottle feeds or not?

I've read heaps on the subject but it's all conflicting info so I'd like to hear from some other mum's (or dad's). Thanks :-)

For the past week, my 6 weeks old son has been crying every time he eats during the day, he would be just screaming and screaming and won't eat more then 1 oz. at the time, and then usually vomit. He has no fever and he doesn't do it at night (he eats every three hours with no problem at night) so I don't think he is sick. What is wrong with him?

Any suggestions on how i can stop my 12wo from rolling over and around in his cot? He rolls onto his tummy at night and cant get back on back. i have tried wrapping him tightly, tucking him in tightly and anything else. But he still manages to break free and turn upside down and on to his tummy!!!!! So I am now too worried to have blankets because am scared he will turn around and end up under them head first..
Desperately need ideas... Not getting any sleep because I have to keep going in and putting him back on his back and re-cover him. Its too hot for a sleeping bag.
