Put a teaspoon of Karo syrup in his bottle, that'll clean his little bottom out...I promise! I always had trouble when I switched my kids over to formula. Karo works like a charm.
Good luck!

Put him back on breast milk, he should be fine after a while, if not, I would call your doctor to ask for suggestions, it could be the transition that did it because when babies are having a bottle or breast they should be getting fully hydrated from it. Unless you were mixing the formula incorrectly and he was getting more formula than water in the mix, then I wouldn't worry about it because it was probably just the switch over to formula that bunged up his system for a little while. Breast milk again should regulate his system - it's a lot easier on babies' digestive systems than formula is.

It is normal for breastfed babies to go as often as every feeding and as few as once every couple of days. If it's only been a day or two since he's gone last, don't worry just yet. If you see him going on four or five days and still hasn't gone, you can give him a little bit of prune juice in a bottle. But not the kind of prune juice you'd find in the juice aisle. It made especially for infants. It is in the aisle with the formula and jars of baby food (usually on the bottom shelf). They sell them in little 2 ounce bottles. Caution: do not use suppositories.

Formula has a lot of iron in it, and that is what probably caused it, the sudden switch. I would call the doctor and see what the best course of action is to take. Some doctors suggest meds some will say it will even itself out, while others will suggest warm water enemas. I know one time I had to take a suringe and help my little guy out a bit, but I did it with the advice of a doctor.

Do not use Prune juice until they are 2 months old!!!!!! Instead put 1 1/2 teaspoons of light Karo syrup in with the formula. If your baby is still constipated 5hrs after that, talk to your Dr.

formula fed babies are more at risk from constipation because formula is harder to digest than breastmilk. try baby on breast milk for few days, if no results, try massagin his tummy with circular movements outward from the bellybutton, this worked for my childrens constipation. if none of this works take him to g.p. he may prescribe some babylax.

Gerber pear juice. worked like a charm for my little one. Do 2 ounces juice 4 ounces water. Karo worked the first time but seemed to make her gas worse also my Dr. said a warm bath it's supposed to loosen up bowels didn't seem to do much but you may want to try that also.

How long has he been constipated? If just one day don't worry so much. If he has gone at all don't worry too much just get him back on breast asap. If it has been more than one day take him to the dr. and the dr. can get something for him
