my neice is 6 months and me and my family are trying to teach her how to crawl...

we put things in front of her that she loves to chew on or play with like soda cans, keys, remotes, basically anything to draw her attention that she reaches for.

shes pretty advanced. she is always screaming and saying ba! ba! ba! she can sit up by herself, hold her own bottle, and roll over. she can also reach and grab things.

she has the getting up on her knees down pack, just a couple of minutes ago i noticed she lifts one leg up. what can we do to help her? or will she just have to learn by herself?

she is kind of big for her age, but she SOO PRETTY and shes very active, so shes not a lazy baby AT ALL! sometimes we wish she was!

additional info - - sometimes her and my mom have screaming competitions. my mom will scream and shell scream and then shell get louder and louder until she chokes from her own spit, she is HILARIOUS.

No need to do anything to encourage your niece to crawl. She will do it when she is ready or she may not crawl at all. Not all babies crawl in the traditional way. Some "commando crawl", some pull themselves along on their tummies, some scootch around on their bottoms and some will even roll to get where they want to go. 6 months is actually a little young to develop the skill of crawling, but it is perfectly normal for her to be working towards it. Generally, sometime between 7-10 months babies will begin some form of getting themselves where they want to go. There are some babies who are crawling by 6 months and some don't until 12 months. All babies are different. One caution about the screaming competition - sure, it's adorable at 6 months, but it's not near as cute at 12 months or 18 months or 2 years old, so exercise a bit of caution about what you encourage her to do. Habits can be hard to break.

She is getting ready to crawl, the getting on the knees is the next step in figuring it out, and a lot of girls do that for some reason, I am not sure why. I would just keep doing what you are doing and she will be on her way real soon.

She will crawl when she is ready. If you haven't already noticed babies tend to go by their own little schedule. As long as there are no concerns being voiced by her doctor then you shouldn't really be worried.

get her a kitty or a puppy. The bonding of a pet will help your neice to crawl. Also, the imitation of a four-legged animal may help.
