If your baby is breastfed, s/he DOES NOT need any vitamin supplments w/o a specific reason. Vit D is ONLY necessary in certain cases (lack of sunlight or maybe very dark skin). Iron is likewise unncessesary and may cause serious problems.

If your baby is not breastfed, you'll have to check w/ your doc.

Talk to your doctor because extra vitamins in a baby's diet are potentially harmful. If your baby is being breastfed then it is more than likely getting absolutely everything that it needs to be fully balanced vitamin wise. If it's not then i'd reccomend that you ask a doctor or your pharmacist. If you do buy supplements make sure that they are specifically for your baby's age, that way you know that they are getting the right dosage at the right release rate. Should the baby get a sudden increase in a certain vitamin due to a high release rate then it can be dangerous. Just remember one thing - no amount of vitamin supplements take the place of a healthy and balanced diet and your body can only handle so much of a vitamin at one time as many are. Make sure you're not paying for suplements that the body is just getting rid of cause you already have enough of it. One last thing - don't forget there there are a huge range of biochemical tests that can be done.... see your doctor.

You should consult with a nutritionist. A child needs all food groups and some children are picky or have allergies. A child allergic to eggs amd nuts need protein from other sources and a child that is allergic to fruits may need vitamins from other sources too. Dont use centrum liquid vitamins because it contains alcohol. Ask your doctor because a baby 's body is not the same as others

The good news is that breastmilk contains everything your baby needs. Taking a prenatal vitamin can help, but the truth is that your milk will provide what your baby needs whether or not you get it in your diet -- the prenatal vitamin will help ensure that your body doesn't have to borrow those nutrients from elsewhere in your body (like calcium from your bones and teeth) if your diet lacks those nutrients.

Babies do not need vitamins. The only exception is babies who are exclusively breast-fed. They need vitamin D to help prevent rickets. Your pediatrician will confirm this. In rare cases babies may need an iron supplement but I would not give this without instruction from your pediatrician. Healthy babies receive all the iron they need from breastmilk or formula. If you are breast-feeding it is advisable to take a prenatal vitamin.

You do not need to give your baby vitamins. My toddler, on the other hand, is in a phase where he is eating no veggies so occasionally I will give him baby vitamin drops (made by Enfamil). My doctor assured me that babies do not need vitamins.

They make only a couple different kind for babies that I know of and they both can be found in wal-mart. I have never given my son vitamins because he gets diarrhea everytime he takes them. He did that from early on. The ones avialable they say or safe, but the best thing to do is talk to the doctor about it.

I think the best thing is a prenatal vitamin with plenty of folic acid in it. +++ a healthy diet.
Extra antioxidants from sources like pomegranate and cranberry juice(help to keep away urinary tract problems as well). Omega oils are great as well.
