At what age did you remove your childs bumper pads and headof bed pad? My son is 10 months he does not try to climb out of the crib {that usually starts around 2 yrs of age} and my husband thinks it should come out says "he's a big boy now" but he is the type of baby that will push his head up to the rails and sleep with the rails {head of bed pad} touching his head and he is content. Move him to the middle of his bed and he goes right back up there. Also as much tossing he does in his sleep i'd hate for an arm to come out and him try to roll away while its in the rail. Any suggestions as to when it should come out?

My mother-in-law was laid off about 6 weeks ago and has been taking my 6 1/2 month old son every day during the week as I work 8-5. Recently I have been feeling very jealous, i guess that is the right word, at what she gets to experience and I don't. It seems everytime I try to say something about him, she already knows it. I didn't have this hard of time when he was in day-care for 4 months, but I think that because it is her, I am. Has anybody felt this way and any advice to get over it. It may sound stupid but it eats at me that she "knows" my son more than me and I am worried that one day he is going to cry and want her instead of me!

Ladies, I'm a very private person & don't feel comfortable breastfeeding, at all, really. But, I know it's good for me and for the baby. So, assuming that I'll want to stop after 6 weeks (when I go back to work), how do I make that transition? How & when do I switch to formula & in doing so, stop producing milk? Any suggestions will help. I think I'm just a little overwhelmed right now.

My 5 month old, whom has been exclusively breastfed for 5 months has just started rice cereal and now I am wondering if there is an order I should introduce baby food to her in. So far she has rice cereal 2x a day, and she has tried carrots and sweet potatoes. We gave her carrots 1x a day after her cereal in the morning for 3 days and now this is her first day with sweet potatoes. In what order should I introduce pears, peaches, prunes, squash, green beans and peas?

My two month old daughter has started imitating my sounds during play...it's so cute and fun, and I had no idea they did this so early! We touch noses and I make a high pitched "ahhh" noise to her, and she does it back to me, like we are talking. She is also starting to respond when I talk to her by cooing back at me....is sound imitation normal for a two month old? I'm a new mom so everything she does is different and exciting for me!

My baby is due in August, and I plan on breast feeding exclusively. I am wondering what breast pump would be best for a mother working full time. I would also like to know what kind of storage works best for you and why? I've seen hard plastic containers, storage bags, and a way to store it in the drop-in containers for bottles.

being a new mom I was shocked that this was actually true. All babies say the same 5 things from birth to 3 months and will continue to say them if they are responded to correctly. for more info go to oprahs website and type in baby language. Worked for me Has it worked for you? NEH means hungry - HEH means i am uncomfortable - EH means I have to burp - ERR means i have low gas pains - OW means I am tired.

Like, I always hear people say it on TV or whatever, but nobody ever answers it. Is it a joke or something? Or are babies really "made"?

I had a reunion with old college roommates who all have babies now. They said there were a few items on their registry or received as gifts that weren't worth the trouble of using. Since we're still expecting, most of our stuff is still boxed up. Are there items we should consider exchanging because they were not much help, or didn't perform as promised?

She is coughing and has some congestion also and sneezes every now and then. She doesn't have a fever. The nurse said that I can give her the Pedia Care congestion and cough for Infants and I have since Friday night but it is seeming not to work that well. Have anyone else gave their infant anything else to help with the cold? Is there anything else I can do? Thanks

My baby is 2.5 weeks old with prolonged jaundice.. The hospital are now saying he is colonized with group b strep even though i was swapped and showed as negative.. The hospital are still saying i must have it though.. My question is can i now be properly tested for group b strep now i am no longer pregnant as i have read some babies can be colonized with group b strep from their enviroment and i spent first 2 weeks in hospital so i would know if it was me or them who basically colonized my baby. Also is a colonized baby at higher risk of developing late onset of group b strep disease?? Many thanks for any help! Xx

i have to babysit him, but i also have a softball game. i was thinking i could watch him in the dugout when my teams up to bat, my teammates could watch him when I'm up to bat, and when our teams on the field, the sub players could watch him. everybody knows him and my family since my sister has come to some of my games and watched him, and he's been with us in the dugout before too, just not for a whole game. my sis can't watch him because she has a dance competition. i think it would be ok and safe, your opinions?

In order to get their babies to sleep through the night, they put warm cereal in their bottles. How would I do this if I plan on breastfeeding? Do I just introduce the bottle after the 1st month? What do you think??

I'm breastfeeding my 3 month old daughter and my milk supply is low. I know we're just getting more in tune with each other - it's not that. It's getting low. What are some SAFE herbs to take and still breastfeed her to boost my milk supply? Also - any other techinques to boost my milk supply?
Please when suggesting herbs - have a website in mind so I can go read more about the herb! I appreciate it!

... the one on Fannin in Downtown Houston. What was your experience like? What was your impression of the hospital staff, ie nurses, anesthesiologist? Do they offer "walking epidurals" for pain relief? How were the rooms? the nursery?

I'm thinking about delivering there this summer and I'm looking for some info about other people's experiences.

I have read about using breatmilk to mix formula rather than water but can't find anything on the tin about this. My baby is 4 months now and has began waking at night because he is hungry. I have bought some SMA powdered milk to help fill him up. I have lots of expressed milk in the freezer and would like to mix it with the powder so it is better for him and maybe more filling. I have read this in magazines but there is nothing on the tin. Can you do this and if so do you use the same amount as you would of the water?
