My 5 month old, whom has been exclusively breastfed for 5 months has just started rice cereal and now I am wondering if there is an order I should introduce baby food to her in. So far she has rice cereal 2x a day, and she has tried carrots and sweet potatoes. We gave her carrots 1x a day after her cereal in the morning for 3 days and now this is her first day with sweet potatoes. In what order should I introduce pears, peaches, prunes, squash, green beans and peas?

You can introduce anything in any order. Some believe veggies, then fruit, then meats. My daughter had fruit 1st then meat and then veggies. She prefers veggies over anything else now (at 9 mos old). Just like adults, kids tastes will change many times. If she does not like something initially try it again at a later date. And she may love sweet peas for a while than all of the sudden hate them. Just make sure to start with single ingredient foods until you know she is not allergic to anything. Don't get discouraged and if you need to talk to your doctor for more information. Introduce new baby foods in one week increments. They say that if you do it like this you have an easier time finding out what they are allergic to if they happen to have an allergic reaction. I started my baby on squash and sweet potatoes at 5 months. I used rice exclusively for 1 month prior. Gradually I felt confident to try her on other foods. After a lot of trial and error I found out that she LOVES squash and is allergic to apples, carrots, and oatmeal. It just takes time, stay with the number one foods until she is about 7 months then move to stage two. Then do stage three when you think she can handle chunkier foods. Good Luck!

It doesn' matter what order. The reasoning to do veggies first before fruits because of the sweetness is unproven, and most kids do just fine either way. You want to wait a few days between different foods so that if your baby has any type of allergic reaction, you can easily determine which food may have caused the problem.
Good Luck. It'll be a piece of cake before you know it!

In any order you like as long as you keep leaving 3 days between the new foods. I alternated veggie, fruit so mine could get a bit of both in a day.

Also if baby does not like peaches or peas, wait a week or so and try again. Sometime if you keep trying they will end up taking it. Then there is my daughter, she NEVER liked pureed peaches but she will eat the fruit - go figure?

Enjoy while baby is little - it goes WAY too fast.

Really it is your chose as the parent, but I found introducing the Vegetables first, the plain fruits (prunes) second and sweet fruits third works well.
With my first as soon as I introduces the sweet fruits (pears etc.) it was a battle to get her to eat other things.
With my second I did it in the above order and she ate whatever I offered, in any order.
Also the baby my refuse something one day but always re-introduce it later sometimes they will eat it, sometimes they wont

You can introduce them in whatever order seems best to you, just make sure to wait a few days between foods to watch for allergies or bad reactions. Remember, too, that it may take several tries for your daughter to decide she likes something. Don't give up on a food simply because she's not in the mood for it one day.

One more thing- the KidCo baby food mill is a super-easy way to make purees for your baby that are fresh and often better tasting than jarred foods. Jarred peas are nasty, but freshly smushed ones are soo good! I got mine on eBay for $12 and it's made baby feeding a breeze!

I would introduce bananas and avocados as her first foods. Normally you wait at least 5 days between new foods to make sure there is no reaction.

And I would SLOW DOWN as solids aren't even normally introduced until 6 mos. She doesn't even need to have solids every day yet, let alone 2x per day.

My kids' pediatrician recommended the light colored fruits and veggies first, like oranges, and yellows. She said green veggies should come last, and then the meats, a little at a time. Don't worry if you introduce a veggie or fruit before you think you should. Most of them are quite safe for baby.

I don't think the order really matters so much, as long as you are waiting at least 3-5 days between each food.

Some recommend doing the veggies before the fruits, so they dont get a taste for the sweets then want nothing else.
