Have any mothers recently delivered your baby at Memorial Hermann?

... the one on Fannin in Downtown Houston. What was your experience like? What was your impression of the hospital staff, ie nurses, anesthesiologist? Do they offer "walking epidurals" for pain relief? How were the rooms? the nursery?

I'm thinking about delivering there this summer and I'm looking for some info about other people's experiences.

Well I am sorry to say that I have not had this experience to deliver there. But I am very familiar with Hermann as I had a very ill family member and spent a lot of time there. I have seen the nursery and it's top notch. Really Hermann is a great hospital and I would like to have my baby there but my doctor doesn't do deliveries there, she does them at St Joseph's not far from Hermann in the medical center.

As I said before I was not in the maternity wing but I slept in the main waiting lobby a few nights and the staff was really wonderful and remembered me (even nurses from other areas of the hospital). They were kind enough to move a single sleeper sofa into the actual hospital room and really took care of me as well as my grandfather (who was extremely ill and eventually past).

I believe that there are different ansesthesiologists there but the one that I met (can't remember his name) was really a warm person and took time to explain things. He was there whenever my grandfather had surgery and other painful procedures.

I am sure that they offer walking epidurals as that is becoming more and more common and also Hermann is a first class facility and they have the most modern treatments there. The rooms are great and bigger than some hospitals that I have seen. I especially liked the showers in the bathroom and there is also a decent sized locker/wardrobe to store clothes and personal things as well as plenty of drawers for other stuff. I highly recommend Hermann. Best of luck and health to you and your little one.
