Our dog is very friendly and loves kids. How long should I prevent contact with the newborn to avoid the baby getting sick?

We started our baby on rice cereal at 4 months with the Dr's ok, she didn't want to drink her formula as much so the RN suggested that we wait awhile and then try again. We have tried it again at almost 6 months and she is doing good, likes the cereal tolerates it well but her formula intake has decreased again. I put formula in her cereal but this is not enough, has anyone else had this expereince and any suggestions.

I was in the ob-gyn office waiting to be seen and I saw in some parenting/baby magazine that there is peel on/off wall decorations/mural that you decorate the baby nursery with. I did not get the name of the magazine or the name of the company. Anyone have any ideas?

I've read all the books and tried all the suggestions...changing my diet, holding, rocking, swaddling, pacifier, the colic hold, car ride, stroller ride, clothes dryer, music, etc... Does anyone have an "unconventional" cure that worked??

What I'm trying to say is that you pick a boy and girl one of everything and then when you deliver, someone calls and tells the store which sex your baby was and they deliver the one that cooresponds. This allows people at your shower to say buy your bedding, but not hand deliver it because the sex is unknown, but you won't have to have everything yellow and green.

9 months & formula??
My baby is 9 months, she has been on 3 different formulas. She still spits up a pretty good bit, she has been on the Similac Isomil Advance Soy milk for the past 3 months, and is still always spitting up ALOT!!! Well the other day i went to my friends house and her grandma was there...you know how they are they will feed them anything...well she was feeding the babies shredded cheese. Well i thought it would have made her constipated, but it didn't. In fact she had 7 bowel movements the next day. I was wondering if she could be Lactose Intolerant..i haven't tried the Similac Lactose-free formula yet, but do you think its a good idea to try it on her or keep the formula she has been on for the past 3 months??

This happens mostly at night. He does not cry a lot but is clearly very uncomfortable and really straining. He makes a lot of grunting noises. When I hold him I can feel his tummy tightening up and kind of contracting. When I rub his tummy it seems to help a little bit but only for a short while. He's not constipated. I tried Simethicone (sp?) and it's not workinng. Any suggestions??

My daughter is 4 months old. She has some cradle cap, and scratches her head until it bleeds. I have put scratch-mittens on her hands, and a hat on her head, but her hands stay wet all the time with the mittens because she always puts her hands in her mouth, and the hat she pulls off. I used Selsen Blue (per her pediatrician) and it cured the cradle cap but her head oozed for 12 hours afterwards. I used baby oil and a dry cloth to pull the cradle cap off, but it still causes oozing. I've used triple antibiotic ointment on her, which works for a while, but then when I stop using it it seems to come back. I could really use some help....

Hi

Thanks a bunch to all that have taken the time to answer:)
Just to clarify, she is on formula milk and although we've tried her on solids, its not agreeing with her as she's bringing it up along with her Formula milk. We've stopped the solids. In the evenings, sometimes she brings up a lot of her feed, sometimes in her sleep but we've noticed when she sleeps slightly upright, she seems to be fine.
She's REALLY cranky though, despite being full of life :) but getting her to sleep is a nightmare sometimes rocking her for 45 mins. She is drooling though and will find anything to put in her mouth. Again, is the above all normal?

She gets bored extremely quickly and loses interest in her toys after a few minutes of playing with them, even when I play with her. I try talking to her and pulling funny faces so that she will laugh and talk a bit too, but again, this only keeps her happy for 5 or 10 minutes! I usually like to take her for a walk at somepoint in the day, but this is not always possible due to the ever changing weather conditions (I dont go out if it is snowing or raining) and all of my friends live too far away from me to drop in for a visit. When she is bored, she cries and the only thing that will stop her from crying is either feeding her or carrying her around, neither of which I can do all day! Any ideas?!

Baby is six weeks old, breastfed, but I'm starting to introduce formula because I'm going back to work. I've been giving him one bottle of it a day and then I'm going to up it in a few days. Right now, he's only taking one ounce and that lasts him for a couple of hours. Is that a normal amount to start? Breastfeeding, he eats every couple of hours, I only do one breast per feeding and he goes for about twenty minutes or so. How much formula should a six week old be eating? How often should they eat?

Hi, my 4 month old has a cold. His has a runny nose, he coughs a little but, and last night he had a bit of a fever – 101.7. I am not a big fan of giving little babies medication, especially Tylenol since I read how it can cause liver damage. However, after a few hours i realized that the fever was not going away I had to succumb to my fears and give him a dose of infant Tylenol for lack of better options. Do you have an alternative ways of treating a common baby cold that doesn’t include strong medication or at least doesn’t include Tylenol as the primary means of treatment?
Thank you
