Pregnancy & Parenting - 31 October 2007

I suppose I should love to eat at the dinner table with all our children, but I just do not. Is there any unwritten mommy rule that you have to eat at a dinner table? My husband just started this tradition because his family never ate at the table so he wants to do it with our kids. My family always ate at the table with all the 'May I be excused?' rules and I hate it. Does it make you a bad parent to not want to sit a table all together? Aren't we just as much of a family if we eat in the same vicinity like in the living room? I just do not see anything wrong with eating away from the table.

Im 30 weeks pregnant and have not had any complications during my pregnancy thus far. I have pain in my legs but no edema (swelling of the legs or feet). I would like to go to a haunted house.

I have an OB apointment in 2 hours, so will ask my doctor then as well. He always says no to everything though.

Whats your opinion?

Im 39 weeks pregnant!!
I was put on complete bedrest on monday due to my blood pressure being elevated! BORING...Let me tell you! Absolutly nothing to do..But anyways..Yesterday was a good day. No pain, nothing..Well today...I am having very loose soft bowels, nauseated since last night, headache, contractions and my legs are sooo crampy like I am on my period!! My son is due next thursday on November 8th!! I am hoping he comes sooooon! I have nooo energy to do anything. Not that I can but still...The crampiness in my legs suck! Any ways to get relief??

My daughter, 3rd grader, wants to be in the schools talent show. She was talking to her art teach, who is a male, about it. He offered to be in the talent show WITH her and gave her his home phone number so that they could "practice" together. I am freaking out. I don't believe ANY teacher should give out their home phone # and why wouldn't he just suggest that I bring her back to the school so they could "practice" together. I am going to call him, because my daughter is very excited, and agree that I will go WITH her and sit WITH her while they practice. What would you do in this situation?

but absolutely no job interests me whatsoever besides being a mother (i plan to foster and adopt as well) and homemaker. even now though i'm only 16, have had years of experience with kids of all ages, and love to clean house and organize, and also cook, and do laundry. my mom doesn't want me to go to college to just get a standard degree in nothing, she says it's a waste of money. so what do i do?

My daughter is 2 years old and I still absolutely love her first name, so I would never consider changing that...But I was considering changing her middle name. Her full name name is Savannah Jolie. I loved it at the time, but recently Ive been thinking that Savannah Rose sounds better and flows better together. I asked on here which one people like more and they said Savannah Rose. Would it be weird to change her middle name now after 2 years of her being Savannah Jolie? Is it not right to change it? What do you think I should do?

I did two glucose tests - the one hour and three hour - and everything turned out to be fine but I still have glucose in my urine...what else would cause that and should I be worried? I really don't think I eat much sugar...

My son plays basketball and he is not bad by all means just a little lazy and I think he feels he isnt as good as the other players. I thought about paying him for baskets made, rebounds, steals etc.. Is this wrong? I know he can do it maybe he just needs an incentive.

I had my baby on the 26th real early in the morning. later that day i started feeling sick and told the doctors and nurses and all the gave me were cough drops. well i went in yesterday and they said i had a sinus infection ad now im on medication. my baby also had her first check up yesterday and i told them about her having trouble breathing and that the bugger sucker thing wasnt doing it. she said it was fine as long as the baby can breath while eating. but today when i woke up to feed her she had alot of stuff in her right eye. she isnt running a temperature but i still feel like there is something wrong. and im not breast feeding

I already gotten my period for Oct. 10days after i got my period i had sex.. Its now the 31st .. My breast dont hurt or dont look like they enlarged but the area around my nipple seems to look a "slight" darker but more almost swollen looking? Some times I will get one strike of pain in of my breast Could this be a sign of pregnancy ? I have been stressed out ever since i had sex too.

hey, so i just wanna tell you all about my little girl Alex. she's 3 years old but she's been behaving really odd lately. just hear me out, my wife sets her of in a bed and i find it odd that 30 mins later, a 3 year old finds her way to the couch or the carpet to sleep on. my wife just cant get her to go back after a while. im really more concerned that she likes to sleep ontop of me as well as the way she sleeps. i was taught that if you sleep upright, it'll help your posture, breathing etc (wether or not thats true, its just what i think) i useually come home from work and land straigt on the couch and sleep. but ever since she started to walk, she's been climbing ontop of me and curling up into a ball like a cat to sleep on my back.

my friends told me that maybe she's learning from something by example as kids tend to do that. i know my wife doesn't curl up into a ball on me, and we dont have a cat either, is somthing wrong?

I know that running a business takes up all your time. At least that's what I've heard. Anyway, I want to start a daycare centre (first at home and then expand and get licence). I absolutely love kids and I love teaching them things and seeing them laugh. I know kids can be hard, trust me, I have my own! But I am looking into this opportunity because I feel like I can create a really super healthy and educational daycare centre. I know I can. I'm just worried that I won't have time for anything else.

What do you think?
Any tips you have for starting out would be really appreciated.
