Pregnancy & Parenting - 27 September 2007

My son is a year and a half. He's getting tall enough where the baby gate will soon be ineffective. Frankly, I'm getting tired of climbing over it---all the time. It seperates our house from our 'living areas' and our bedrooms. It's pretty much a pain. Haha. So, I was wondering when you allowed your child to roam free? How did you manage? Is it better just to leave the gate up until way later?

I'm thinking about getting a gate that has a door build in so I can open it when I need to get through. I can't even tell you how many times I've triped and fell over the darn thing while carrying laundry. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

he has been walking sence he was 9 months old now he has mastered climbing i tried to keep chairs pushed in at all times but now he just pulls them out it scares me to death what can i do

I am a two year old teacher, just started. I am wondering what kind of candy would you recomend? I would love to give treats to the kids just want to know whats good and whats not.

I know peanuts is a no no for two year olds.

Has anyone ever got paternity and child support waiver paper for a newborn or acknowledgement of paternity papers? what would they say? i know i going to get one i just wanna know. is there any websites out there where i can see a form? And why would they be sent to my job as well?

They are serious names me and my husband just decided it. we both wanted my parents name and his grand parents name in the names and we were able to fit it in. so what do you think. we are wanting to start trying for kids soon. Be honest please. and( if this matters we are both white.)

I have a co-worker that has his nieve girlfriend believing she's still a virgin and that she can't get pregnant. She's about 24 kinda slow and disabled. They have sex, he told her since he pulls out that they are not having sex because he doesn't do his deed inside of her. Therefore they are doing nothing wrong and she can't get pregnant. She's convinced they are NOT having sex. I've tried to explain to her that just sticking it in there once is enough to lose your virginity and it's now consider sex. Should I consider contacting someone on this issue? (reporting) Since she is disabled. She truely believes this crock of crap and I believe it's wrong. Please, only helpfull responses I'm taking this very seriously!

my best friend babysits this little boy. one day my boyfriend and i went over there, when we left my boyfriend kept telling me that this little boy is autistic. what are signs that someone can look for? this little boy just turned 4 and to me seems very intelligent. He could read by the the time he was 3 along with spelling, he likes to sing and read books but yells when someone does it along with him. i dont know if those are signs but yeah let me know

i want to give birth now. im becoming overwhelmed and have frequent crying spells over it oxytocin the hormone that triggers labor is considered the love hormone since ive been pregnant i have not felt any love besides for my baby i dont want nothing to do with sex and when my boyfriend trys to touch me or love me i cant stand it and i get very upset for no reason his touches makes me cringe and very agarvated does this mean that i wont go into labor? i cant even tell him that i love him back every time he trys to get intimate i get extreamly angry why is this? i fear im not producing any oxytocin and my body wants to keep my child in me forever i try to relax all the time but i cant do it its like my child isnt producing the hormones for labor just producing hormones of anger rage and anoyance im constantly pissed off and every day it gets worse that i havent had my baby yet why am i this way and every contraction that doesnt stay present gets me so furyous. i feel like im bein tesed

I am thinking about having one...
My friend had one, she was hated alot..
But I just dont know.
I am so confused.
I really think abortion is wrong..

...and his teachers are putting more emphasis on it than I think they should. His scholastics rank very high in class and he is the youngest child. He has some fascination with numbers (ie: he is very interested in what number the song is that is playing on the cd he's listening to, how many songs are on a cd, what station the radio is on, etc.) and some motor skill issues such as toe walking. I feel like the teachers would like to diagnose him with autism, but my mother, who has taught Behavior Disorders for 24 years, says that he's not autistic, but I'm getting concerned by how hard the teachers are finding issue with him not choosing a "hand" yet. How concerned should I be?

My 2.5 year old is 38 lbs and about to outgrow her car seat in the 5 point harness setting... Does anyone know of a car seat that is cheaper than the Britax but has a weight rating higher than 40 pounds. It's illegal to move her into a booster until she is 4 years old in our state and I can't afford a Britax.

Okay, I had a bad run in with one today.

I was in the geocery store today, and I was standing behind a "Soccer Mom" (aka "Soccer Nazi")and her precious children. Her son-who had to of been like 9 or 10ish- started throwing a tantrum. I swear, he was like screaming at the top of his lungs...like a 3 year old or something. I never seen a kid that age act like that. And the lady just sat there and did nothing!

Anyways, I put my hands over ears (I probaly had a dirty look on my face)And the lady turns around. And she freaked out! She started screaming at me about how "rude and imature i was being", and "how i didn't understand how is was to be a mother" and "thats how kid's act" etc ...She acted like, or how dare you cover your ears while her precious angel was screaming! What was I to? Did she expect me to sit their and listen while her child was screaming? WHO IN THE HELL DOES SHE THINK SHE IS??

Tell me what you think about that? What are your opinons of Soccer Mom's.

I've just found out that my baby is going to be a girl, so I've decided to start trying to think up a name.
My boyfriend is pretty indifferent as to the name, however he would probably be very happy if we gave our daughter an Irish name. No weird made up names please.

Im having my 2nd child w. a c sec schled for 10/24, past weeks feeling tightness in vaginal are like someones squeezing it plus the sharp pains which I guess is the baby pussing on my cervix. had 2 contraction w/in 15 min tonight, didnt stop when i moved, very crampy and since then my back is killing me n im exhausted. dont go to doc till mon eve. having a lot of white discharge and a wetness feeling but nothing like my bag of waters.... keep getting milder contractions very light regularly and when its not a strong one the baby is hiccuping or moving a lot.... is this labor, can I help move it along naturally?

My daughter is almost 3. She is in mommy and me 2 days a week and she's doing well (we've been there for 5 months now.) The only thing that is giving us trouble is circle time. They do songs and story time. She cries, complains, and tries to get out of sitting with the other kids. I think she knows that if she complains, I will pick her up and move her because I don't want it to distract the other kids. She will be starting preschool in February and I want to try to solve this by then. Any ideas?
