I did not know if it was a "cold turkey" switch or if we had to go slow...

Switch out an ounce of formula for an ounce of cows milk every few days. Don't rush too quickly . the transition should be complete in a littlt over a week.

You can do either! My first son wouldn't take cow's milk at first, so we mixed it up with formula, and within a week, he was on the milk.

My second son drank small amounts of milk from his big brothers cup before he was 12 months, so he was happy to just do the switch straight up.

We did the mixing for my daughter as well, but only once or twice....she still doesn't like the milk if it's straight out of the fridge though (she's 13 months)..so we have to warm it up to room temperature for her.

When we were ready to switch I mixed half formula and half milk in my sons bottle until we had finished the can of formula we had (about 10 days altogether) and then went to milk only. We never had any problems and I found that he actually preferred the milk and finished all his bottles completely where as he would always leave a little bit when it was formula.

I have 3 kids and I always put some milk in slowly with the formula, so there tummies wouldnt get upset and get used to it. I would do like a quarter bottle of milk, and the rest formula, and do that for a week, and see if they tolerant it and if they do then increase more until its all milk. Hope this helps, and Good Luck

This is a gradual switch. When preparing bottles for baby start by substituting 1 oz of formula for milk then the next day 2 oz etc. Watch baby for signs of allergy such as rash, swelling, increased vomiting and diarrhea.

Every child is different. Our pediatrician told us to just try the "cold turkey" method and it worked just fine with our son. I have friends, however, that had to take a more gradual approach and add a little to their breastmilk/formula at a time until they were transitioned 100% to whole milk. I would see if he/she takes to it. If not, do a little at a time.

Good Luck!

It depends on your child. Try cows milk and if he/she doesn't like it, mix it 1/2 and 1/2 to begin with.
Have you ever tasted formula? I can't imagine liking that stinky stuff better than milk.
I have 4 kids and they all switched easily. I always gave my kids strawberry and chocolate milk for an occasional treat.

Mix up the formula like normal and mix half and half with the milk for the first couple of days and gradually add more milk. I did this for about a week for my son.

My pediatrician told me it was okay to just switch him to whole milk, if he would have it. The first time I offered the milk, he wouldnt take it, but it turned out to be the temperature that he didnt like. So I began heating the milk (just 30 seconds in the microwave to take the chill out of it) and he took it no problem. I gradually heated it less and less until he was drinking it right from the fridge... except the "night night bottle", that one I continued heating right up until he was weaned from the bottle :)

My kids didn't like the temperature change, so I made it gradual and it worked better than when I tried offering straight cows milk, just add one ounce at a time, every few days.
