My 2.5 year old is 38 lbs and about to outgrow her car seat in the 5 point harness setting... Does anyone know of a car seat that is cheaper than the Britax but has a weight rating higher than 40 pounds. It's illegal to move her into a booster until she is 4 years old in our state and I can't afford a Britax.

I don't know in particular but I know a great website put out by the NHTSA which has rated EVERY carseat on the market. It has an organized list which you could easily look through to find all of your options in the US. Good luck!

I think your best bet would be an Evenflo Triumph Advance (make sure it's the advance not regular triumph). They are easy to install, go to 50lbs and have top slots of 17in which is the same as Britax convertible car seats. The price starts out at $129 and they can be easily found at Wal-Mart, Target, Babies R Us and online.

Can you sell maybe her old clothes on e bay or save a little. the britax is only about $100 or so more. It is the best out there. Check she might even be able to move into the regal (I think is what it is called.) I would save if you can. I know it is expensive, but it is hard to put a price on your child's safety.

I basically bought the secure practices First Apex sixty 5 which permits you to apply the 5 factor harness as much as sixty 5 pounds. My youngsters are nevertheless below 40 pounds, yet I plan to maintain them in the 5 factor harness as long as plausible because it is the main secure in the form of a collision. This seat is additionally used as a seatbelt positioning booster seat from 40-a hundred pounds. So if my youngsters incredibly face as much as preserving the 5 factor harness while they get slightly older, we are in a position to constantly change it to the seat belt selection. i like to maintain my thoughts open. (And the seat grow to be particularly extremely priced - $a hundred and fifty - we bought 2 - for my a million 12 months previous and my 3 3/4 12 months previous. we are going to be utilising them for a whilst!)
