My grandmother gave my 5 month old chocolate pudding about 3 hours ago. Now he is crying and I think maybe his stomach is hurting. Is there anything I can do for him? Is it okay that he ate this (it was only a few bites).

Oh Grandmothers, doing as they please.

You can try gripe water. Wouldn't allow her to do that again. Baby isn't ready for that until at least 9 months - but I would wait much longer.

My third childs first food was white cake, my middle child was three and gave it to her. It was all fine, and quite funny actually.

Well unless he has a chocolate or milk allergy it isn't going to hurt him. If he is crying and never usually does then yes it could be upseting his tummy but since most babies cry for other reasons it could be something else as well. Rub his belly and see if it is hard or if he cries more when you touch his belly. I personally have never had a problem with babies eating this such as pudding even when given it at 4 months but my nephew is allergic to chocolate so he would have had an upset tummy from it. He ate a smores ritz cracker at 9 months and got sick. If he continues to cry call the Dr that is your best source of information since we here don't know what your babies history is.

She should not have done that without asking. Chocolate isn't a good food for babies. The stomach ache will pass, but watch him if he ever has chocolate again pudding as he may be allergic to something in it.

My grandmother was not alive when I had my babies. I would have loved it if she would have been around to feed my kids stuff. My parents were also not around and only saw my kids 1-2 times a year (if that). Your baby is lucky to have that grandma!

Well it isn't the healthiest thing to give a 5 month old, but he isnt the first to have it this young neither. Both of my chidren were given choc pudding probably around 4-5 months when my parents watched them. If his stomach is hurting, I would try giving him some gas drops, as he might be sensative to dairy products and choc pudding has milk in it. This isnt life threatening, but I would make sure from now on that he isn't given anything like this without your consent.

No honey!! This is not good at all. First off Cows milk-babies cannot digest cows milk yet, they don't have the enzymes to break it down
2-chocolate is full of sugar and CAFFEINE, which I wouldn't take my 5 mo old to Starbucks :)
3- does your baby even eat solids yet?
I;m just saying this cause my step dad has done that kinda thing to my 7 mo old when she was younger, like put a big pickle in her mouth to see her reaction, I did this once with a fry, I was holing it and let her taste it and she started crying.....:( I think it was the salt. You babe will be fine just give him extra love:)

Most likely he's fine, it may be something else that's causing the tummy ache. If he continues to cry call your doctor or the nurse line and they will let you know what to do. But a little chocolate pudding usually will not hurt a baby.

A few bites of chocolate pudding won't hurt him. Just as long as the chocolate pudding hadn't gone bad. It could be something else.

If the pudding was going to bother him it would have taken far less than 3 hours. It's not the best thing to give a baby but it won't do any permanent harm.

He might have some gas from it. Try putting your hand on his back, down towards his waist, and gently rub in an upwards motion up his back. This always helped my daughters. No biggie, a few tastes of grandma's pudding is not a big deal.

I fear you will have to let it pass naturally. Poor little guy probably got something he could not digest. Giving a child food like that can cause allergies. He cannot digest cows milk yet and I bet the chocolate does not help.
